RP1 is best for anyone with natural light brown and dark brown hair. For other shades in our Double Tone Reds collection, check out RC1 (Terracotta Chili).

For anyone who currently has color-treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. We do not recommend RP1 for hair that has been colored medium brown or darker. Results will be intense on bleached or highlighted hair. RP1 is not recommended for predominantly gray hair. Allergy Test
48 hours before each use of the product, complete an allergy alert test, even if you have used hair color products before.

Preparation
Place a towel around your shoulders, remove any jewelry, and put on the gloves. Open the color crème tube and screw the cap back on completely to pierce the tube.

Combine
Squeeze the entire contents of the ampoule and color crème tube into the applicator bottle.

Shake
Shake the mixture for 30 seconds to mix evenly. Break off the tip of the applicator to start applying.

Application Option 1: Full Head
Begin with your roots by using the bottle to separate the hair section by section and applying the colorant.

Apply through the lengths and ends and massage well into your hair to evenly spread the colorant.

Leave the formula on your hair for 30 minutes, or 35 minutes if you have a lot of grays.

After the time has passed, apply the formula through the lengths and ends of your hair. Massage well to ensure the colorant is evenly spread. Leave the formula on your hair for an additional 5-10 minutes.

Rinse and Condition
Apply water to your hair and gently massage to emulsify the colorant. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Apply the silicone-free conditioner and leave on for 2-3 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly and dry your hair. Style your hair the way you like it and admire your new radiant look.

Im only 15 and my mom was superrrrr nervous putting in this color. We were both afraid of how it would turn out. but IT LOOKS AMAZING :) The only thing i would change is that the color bleeds... a whole lot. i wear a white school uniform. horrible mistake. its been alomost 3 weeks and the water in my color still doesnt run clear. im also too afraid to go swimming. other than that i get SO many compliments on it. Im dying it again soon :) it also fades too fast for my taste.

Turned my hair Black!!!!!

I purchased the B2R Dark intense burgundy hair color yesterday for the simple fact that I wanted a change. My natural hair color is medium to dark brown. This color says it is specifically for darker hair... I followed all directions as written in the box, washed the color off after 25 minutes and my hair is NOT "intense auburn" by ANY means... My hair is now BLACK! The only thing it turned even a hint of red it my scalp! I did not want my hair to be black. If I wanted black hair I would have bought black hair color! Plain and simple, I'm highly upset and now that my hair is black, there is nothing I can do without paying a professional to strip all color out of my hair. which I do not have the money to do... I have colored my hair for more than 30 yrs and this is by far my favorite!! Only a salon can beat it!! Have had so many compliments on the shade; always use similar colors but Cherry Flamingo always gets the love . Loyal to to this brand in all areas of hair care. Love love love it!!!!

doesn't work on black hair

Did almost nothing to my daughter's black hair. You could *kind of* see a burgundy tint in the sunshine.

Hair coloring is a fascinating science! When applying a burgundy shade to naturally black hair, the result is going to look more like a 'tone-on-tone' effect. Because black hair is naturally packed with deep pigments, it is difficult to lighten or lift the rich dark pigments enough to see the vibrant red and burgundy tones. That is why the beautiful burgundy shade is most visible when the light hits it in the sunshine!

Legitimately my favorite hair color of all time. Naturally medium brown hair and this color gives me the Perfect red. My one issue is it's so hard to find :'( the past few months it hasn't been in any of the stores near me and I can barely even find it online. When I find it I buy at least 2 to 3 boxes at a time and I think I had a breakdown last time I had to dye my hair a different color. Please never stop making this color I will go with it.

My favorite shade! I get SO many compliments from others about it, too. I love that it doesn't fade to copper like a lot of other reds do. Quite frankly, I am lazy and will let my roots grow out a looooong time past due. But even when I haven't colored in a few months I still loved the color

Conditioner not the same and hard to get out.

This color is good but the new conditioner container is not great. It’s hard to get the condition out. I used to use raspberry but when the packaging changed recently, the colour was very different and looked more like firy red. This is why I’m now using cherry. I just wished the conditioner didn’t change.

New garnier formula is not good

The R3 light intense auburn was so much better with the old formula so disappointed they changed it to this new ultra whatever color it’s too red not even a light auburn looking color Anymore use the old R3 for years and now I had no choice but to switch and look for my old R3 in different brands sooooo far it’s going on a year and still can’t find anything close to there old brand colors so I OFFICIALLY GIVE UP ON GARNIER BRAND after trying multiple different of there now new formula colors it’s a bummer they had the formula so well and they changed it on us it’s not even remotely close to the colors it was before there so ugly now

so i wanted to dye my hair red.. i dyed my hair this color thinking it would be like cute. BUT NO!!! even tho i used the whole thing and applied it EVERYWHERE it was patchy, only the ends and my roots were dyed red.. and the color!! it was UGLY! i did save it by dying my hair a brown a couple days later, it still stayed but it wasnt as bad. its cute fadded tho, my hair is a copper orange now and it wasnt a golden brown before. overall i dont recommend this for people who have brown hair and arent willing to bleach it before.

          • A: Hello kandy72727. Great question! The R3 - Light Intense Auburn does not have enough lift or pigment to show up on natural black hair. Since dyed hair is even harder to lighten than natural hair, dying your hair another color first will make it even harder to see a lighter red result.
