About Aloe Vera

Aloe vera comes from the cactus-like plant of the same name, which secretes a gel-like substance. Naturally hydrating and cooling, it soothes sensitive skin and helps slow the signs of aging while its nourishing blend of vitamins A, C, and E keeps hair strong.
Frequently Asked Questions
  • Aloe Vera used in Garnier products is sourced from the Campeche state of Mexico.

Since 2019, our solidarity sourcing project on aloe vera in Campeche, Mexico, has enabled us to work towards biodiversity and environmental preservation while introducing aloe organic cultivation among smallholders’ communities. We train and empower women to be leaders of the project.
  • Aloe vera’s thick, translucent, almost-gel-like pulp found in the leaves is considered one of nature’s most wonderous and incredible ingredients. It is packed full of water and incredible vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
  • Aloe vera is most widely known (and loved and celebrated) for its hydrating and repairing properties, as well as its unparalleled ability to soothe skin. Found in several products across Garnier’s much-loved hair and skin products, it is one of our hero ingredients because it is rich in water and contains a combination of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. When used in hair care, aloe vera helps nourish and moisturize. In skin care products, it acts as hydrating ingredient that can help treat dryness, while also being suitable for use on even sensitive skin types.
  • It is said that aloe vera can help reduce alopecia by promoting hair growth. However, there is no strong scientific evidence demonstrating that aloe vera alone supports this benefit.
  • As well as being suitable to use in its raw form (yes – if you have an aloe vera plant at home you can cut its leaves open and apply the sticky gel-like substance found inside of them on skin and in hair), we have formulated it into a few different products to help make your life easier – and much less messy!

It can also be used on all skin types. From hydrating shampoo bars, conditioners, and hair masks, another reason why aloe vera is so good is because it is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin. It can also be used on all hair types.
