IN1 is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and black. For other blue shades in our Ultra Color range, check out IN2 Intense Pure Indigo (Blue Curaçao).

For those who currently have color-treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. We do not recommend using IN1 on hair that has previously been colored darkest brown or darker. Not recommended for bleached, highlighted, relaxed, or predominantly gray hair. Allergy Test
48 hours before each use of the product, complete an allergy alert test, even if you have used hair color products before.

Preparation
Place a towel around your shoulders, remove any jewelry, and put on the gloves. Open the color crème tube and screw the cap back on completely to pierce the tube.

Combine
Squeeze the entire contents of the ampoule and color crème tube into the applicator bottle.

Shake
Shake the mixture for 30 seconds to mix evenly. Break off the tip of the applicator to start applying.

Application Option 1: Full Head
Begin with your roots by using the bottle to separate the hair section by section and applying the colorant.

Application Option 1: Full Head
Apply through the lengths and ends and massage well into your hair to evenly spread the colorant.

Leave the formula on your hair for 30 minutes, or 35 minutes if you have a lot of grays.

Begin with your roots by using the bottle to separate the hair section by section and applying the colorant.
Leave the formula on your hair roots for 20 minutes, or 25 minutes if you have a lot of grays.

After the time has passed, apply the formula through the lengths and ends of your hair. Massage well to ensure the colorant is evenly spread. Leave the formula on your hair for an additional 5-10 minutes.

Rinse and Condition
Apply water to your hair and gently massage to emulsify the colorant. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Apply the silicone-free conditioner and leave on for 2-3 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly and dry your hair. Style your hair the way you like it and admire your new radiant look.

Came out just like box picture!

I had previously used the dark Violet and wasn't happy with the results. My hair was very red and not purple at all. I decided to try this color a few months later because I figured even if it was just black I wouldn't be mad. My hair looks exactly how I had hoped it would. I think the red I had in my hair may have helped the blue show. I'm very pleased with the results and will definitely use this color again. I used two boxes and could have used a third so if you have long thick hair you will need to buy multiple boxes.

for those of you saying it turns your hair black, please look up color theory! the darkest black is blue black! i do use this color for black hair but it still has hints of blue in the sun! absolutely love this product and garnier’s box dye in general! it’s much safer than other brands, my hair stays extremely soft, and it smells soooo goodddd!!!!!

Minor issues, but results are good!!

This product is pretty good! The instructions were a bit confusing but I looked up a video example and it worked. The smell of the dye was pretty strong even with my fan on and door open so beware of that. It came out a little patchy but my hair is dark so I don’t mind, it looks like it was on purpose because it’s only near my roots. I started at my roots so I’m not sure why that happened. Regardless, I love the way it turned out! It was an obvious blue color and I’m glad I chose this one and not splot. It’s very obvious my hair is a blue grey or an indigo grey and I love it a lot!!! Got a lot of compliments and it didn’t leave my hair feeling super dry!

Great Color - Fades Nicely

i LOVE this color. I have light brown hair with a few grays and the shade comes out beautifully. Gray coverage is on point. Personally, if you have darker than medium brown hair, I don't think this will show up as well as you want. That's where I've noticed most of the bad reviews start. All boxed dyes fade, and this one actually fades really well. It starts a little dark at first and fades to a nice blue/green (think mermaid) right before I color. I revive my color with semi-perm every few weeks and only use this once every 3 months as an all over color. I have a sensitive scalp and it's worked well for me. I hope they keep it - it's the best teal permanent dye on the market (and one of very few).

This is my go to blue. I have been a punk for almost 30 years so I know my hair dye. IN2 is the nicest blue you can get that's not "semi permanent". other brands turn your pillows more blue than your hair.

Feedback on New Hair Color Formula

Dear Garnier Team, I have been a loyal customer of your hair color products for quite some time and have always been impressed with the previous formula, particularly the version that came in packaging with green sides and a different image. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed significant changes with the new formula, and I wanted to share my concerns. The new version does not perform as well—it washes out within 3 to 5 days and leaves noticeable stains on my pillowcase, which was never an issue with the previous product. I’m not sure what changes were made, but the quality is no longer the same. I would greatly appreciate any information on whether older batches of the previous formula are still available, as I would be interested in purchasing them in bulk. Your previous formula was a staple in my routine, and I’m disappointed that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a comparable product.
