Is This Shade Right For Me?
Shade 40 is ideal if your natural hair ranges from light brown to black and you want a natural-looking dark brown hair dye result. If you prefer a lighter color that still reflects naturally, try 50 Medium Natural Brown (Truffle) — for a softer, lighter brown. If you would like to remain in the dark brown range but would like to try other reflects and tones there are many shades to choose from including 413 Bronze Brown (Bronze Sugar) (warm caramel hair color vibes), 415 Soft Mahogany Brown (Raspberry Truffle) (auburn/reddish brown hair color), and 434 Deep Chestnut Brown (Chocolate Chestnut) (classic chestnut brown hair).

For anyone who currently has color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Because of this, we do not recommend shade 40 (Dark Chocolate) for hair that has been previously colored 30 Darkest Brown (Sweet Cola) or darker.
