Is Shade 43 (Cocoa Bean) right for you?
Garnier Nutrisse Dark Golden Brown 43 (Cocoa Bean) has radiant, golden tones that add warmth to your results. This shade is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and black.

If you prefer a lighter shade that reflects similarly, try Medium Golden Brown 53 (Chestnut). Alternatively, to go darker, shade 33 might be for you. If you would like to remain in the dark brown range but would like to try other reflects, there are many shades to choose from including 40, 413, 415, 42, 434, and 452.

*For women with currently color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Because of this, we do not recommend shade 43 (Cocoa Bean) for hair that has been previously colored Darkest Brown 30 (Sweet Cola) or darker. For more help, use our Shade Selector Tool to find the perfect shade for you!

How to use:

8) Massage hair thoroughly before rinsing to optimize rinsing process.
9) Rinse hair thoroughly until water runs clear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bleached my roots I have used this brand for years. AIways used #43. I went darker for about a year, I was using Sweet Cola, but decided it was a bit too dark. I used as a touch up (25 minutes on roots/5 on whole head). When I took the towels off after rinse and roots are redish/blonde. Totally different color than the rest of my hair! Obviously SOMETHING has changed. I have never had my roots come out a different color than the rest of my hair. I'm so irritated that I sent the money and time to color my hair and now it looks like I still need my hair done because my roots stand out! AND I can't recolor my hair for a month! I will have dark hair, red roots and then dark roots following that....lovely. So disappointed. I think I will look for a different brand of hair color that will be consistent EVERY time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I used this color to dye my hair and it was similar to my natural hair color. It got darker and has a red hue to it at the roots. Overall I would recommend it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the color displayed I used this product to dye my light brown hair a few shades darker. This is definitely not the dark i was expecting though. i rinsed out all the dye and it left my hair JET BLACK, and i did this a few days before prom now my hair is ruined.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turned my hair red! The picture on the box is very similar to my natural hair color. This turned my hair a dark Auburn color and left thick blonde streaks on the sides. It looks ridiculous. I’ve used this brand multiple times and the result has never been this bad. Beware of this color. I did not receive a free sample contrary to the automated fill-in review.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My hair is red!! I colored my hair with #43. Followed all instructions on box. After rinsing I could clearly see that my roots were red. Horrified. I've had to go to work with red roots for a few weeks. I wish I would've read the reviews. Looks like this happens a lot. I'll never use this color again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I wanted to go back to dark brown so I used dark nude brown by garnier. It looks horrible now I have to re dye ! It's really light blondish brown in spots roots barely covered, and hair is super dry frizzy and stiff! So embarrassing! I never ever had this problem going dark brown ever! Stay away!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Damaging and Poor Results I used 43 to darken up hair that is the sandy grey tone that auburn, red, light golden brown, and chestnut shades turns, instead of grey. It previously was colored with a level six sandy golden brown. Because it faded lighter (7 level), I followed recommendations and went to a level 5 brown to fill and step back down, four weeks ago. These were all based on semi professional lines available for home use. I was going only about 1.5 shades darker; and used the Nutrisse. Strand test was okay deep brown and indicated fifteen minute timing. I did the roots and edges and then pulled down and added color to ends. Wow. It is very much the result of a dark auburn. Even more red than 434. I expected a nice warm brown. Not a deep red. And the worst part, it's very drying. I'll be going back to developer and color you purchase and mix separately in the future. Help line told me to put color 40 on top in 48 hours. I'm just washing with Prelle, conditioning, and swimming for a few days. Fortunately, when I used Nutrisse dark shades before, they faded quickly in our hard, chlorinated water. Oh, and it wasn't a free sample!!!! You would have to pay me a lot to ever use this brand again!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the color and amazing shine! I have received so many compliments on my hair since I started using Garnier Nutrisse hair color. My hair is shiny, more manageable and the perfect chestnut shade I wanted. Thank you Garnier for this wonderful product at a price I can afford. I work in a professional office environment and this has been great because it covers my grays and makes me look like I went to an expensive salon, without costing me a fortune. I never could have done it without Garnier! Don't ever change a thing! This product is perfect!! Smells nice, too which is a real plus.
