Get bedtime ready skin in 10 minutes or less

If you’re feeling exhausted at the end of a long day the last thing you want to do is have a super lengthy skin care routine. You just want to take off your make up, remove any impurities and hit the sack. We want to help you with this goal (getting bed-ready as quickly as possible) so we’ve created a useful list on how you can streamline your skin care routine at night. Read on to find out how you can go from primped to bed-prepped in 10 minutes flat.

Step 1: Keep Few Products On Hand And Know Exactly Where They Are

The first step in keeping things quick in the bathroom? Knowing exactly where your products are and only having exactly what you need around. Make sure you toss any half-used products from a few months ago — you won’t use them and they are just making your beauty closet harder to navigate. Also important: a freshly washed towel to dry your face. Pay attention to how often you use the same towel particularly if you have oily skin. Towels can harbor oils and bacteria so even if you’re cleansing your face well you might be creating a breeding ground for blemishes when you towel off. Limit use of the same towel and rotate often.

Step 2: Make Micellar Water Your Best Friend

Micellar water is the ultimate product for women who want quick make up removal and skin cleansing. Micellar water is a water-like substance made up of micelles which are microscopic cleansing molecules suspended in water. They have both hydrophilic and hydrophobic qualities. Pour the micellar water into a cotton pad and lightly swipe over your face; it will lift off oil, dirt, and makeup like a magnet. It has multiple properties and can remove make up and cleanse your skin.

Step 3: Optional: Use A Cleanser

Some women use micellar water without rinsing. Some wash micellar water off after they are done cleansing with more water. Some use an additional cleanser on their skin. None of these processes are more correct than the other, and we encourage you to find out what’s best for your skin.

If you think you need a little extra cleansing, use a gentle cleanser (if you have dry or sensitive skin it can be a cream-based non-wash cleansing lotion or milk) to wash your face. A few times a week you should also apply a product with retinol/pro-retinoid or other antioxidant (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, reservatrol, etc.) formulated product. This ramps up skin cell renewal at night, and neutralizes free radicals that have found a way onto your skin over the course of the day. They only take a few seconds to apply but are highly effective.

Step 4: Let Your Night Cream Do The Work For You

For all skin types, make sure to seal the antioxidants you just applied with a moisturizer. If you have dry skin you can apply a product that’s hydrating to add moisture to your parched skin. Oily, combination and sensitive skin should use something hydrating but non-comedogenic (pore-clogging) so that your skin can still breathe and you won’t wake up with excessive shine or breakouts. Sleeping masks are a great way to give back moisture to your skin overnight and wake up with radiant looking skin. Look into which one would be right for your skin type.

Step 5: Be Mindful Of Your Nutrition

So you don’t to spend a ton of time on your skin care routine. An easy way to make sure you have beautiful skin without a lengthy skin care routine is to maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes drinking lots of water and eating antioxidant-rich food. Eating foods such as leafy greens (spinach, kale, broccoli), fruits (citrus fruit, berries and pineapple) and lean protein, especially fish which is high in Omega-3s are a great way to ensure you get nutrients and antioxidants.

Step 6: Keep All-in-1 Products On Hand For

“Emergencies”

There will be days when even 10 minutes in your skin care routine seems like a lot. For those days with keep easy skin care products on hand such as cleansing towelettes or all-in-1 moisturizers. You’ll be able to cleanse any make-up or dirt off your face with just a few swipes and the moisturizer will hydrate, restore and brighten the appearance of your skin.

We hope that we’ve given you a super short skin care routine that you can stick to even on the busiest of days. Always make sure to spend a little time on your skin at the end of the day so that you can wake up with glowing looking skin.
