About This Shade
Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color PL1, Light Platinum (Coconut), is a bleach kit specially formulated to deliver high-shine intensity with up to 7 levels of lift and zero brassiness.

Our PL1 bleach kit is best for anyone with natural hair between medium blonde and medium brown. For those with darker bases, check out PL2 Ultra Light Platinum (Mascarpone Crème) or PL3 Ultra Cool Platinum (Charcoal Bleach).
For anyone who currently has color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. We do not recommend PL1 for heavily highlighted or relaxed hair. PL1 bleach kit can be used for an all-over head application if you've never bleached your hair or for a touch-up application if you previously bleached your hair and want to touch up your roots. 48 hours before each use of the product, complete an allergy alert test, even if you have used hair color products before.

Squeeze the entire contents of the ampoule and color crème tube into the applicator bottle.

Shake the mixture for 30 seconds to mix evenly. Break off the tip of the applicator to start applying.

bad 0% recommend do not buy this save your money

made my long thick healthy hair fall out in clumps and now i have to cut most of it off and it didnt lift at all. i left it on for 20 minutes. 20 freaking minutes and my hair started breaking off and coming out in clumps even while finger combing it while dry.

Very poor lift.

I bought this brand instead of my usual blonde lightning product. I read that it was more gentle on hair. However, any of the many hair lighteners/ bleach I have tried over the years, this one is the absolute worst. My roots had only grown out a little and they were medium brown. I followed the directions explicitly and my roots still turned out completely orange. This is even after washing it and using the antipress toner. This brand seems to be considerably weaker than any other brand I've bought even though it says it lifts up to eight levels (which is what I normally buy). Is nowhere near listening? Is five levels after the allotted time.
I will have to wait several days and then purchase another brand. Continue the lightning process and not damage my hair any further.
I do not recommend this product at all.

Amazing bleach

This bleach was amazing I have bleached my hair multiple times before trying to go blonde but never could with other products because it would fry my hair off before I could get there but this product did not do that at all I went from splat fire engine red to blonde so fast with all of my hair intact I did use color oops first and it did remove most of the the color but was still very orange and brown so I used this bleach two different times and it was amazing I do recommend having two bottles on hand especially if you have thicker hair because I did not have enough the first round but overall amazing product if done correctly and very happy with the results

Sucks!!!!

This bleach sucked, I only left it on hair for 10 minutes and it got very hot and melted some hair off luckily I noticed it was almost smoking and I rinsed otherwise I’d have no bangs, very unhappy

Love the color

I used this color a few weeks ago. My hair is naturally dark brown. Looking at the box, I expected a light blonde color. However, with my hair being so dark, it did not come out that way. HOWEVER, my hair came out a color that I don't think I could ever find anywhere else. I love the color it became! I think the more I use this color, I will either have lighter hair over time or it will stay the same color that I actually love now!

I have medium brown hair, used as directed, only lifted 4 levels. Not even close to platinum let alone light blonde. Although, it left my hair with no breakage or dry ends. Still satisfied as it did lift evenly and my hair looks great and it's healthy.

Turned out splotchy, checkered, uneven (about 4-5 different shades) and all-around terrible. I read through the directions before I started and followed them exactly. I also combed my hair to help distribute the product evenly. And yet, I’ll be paying $500 for a color correction. The stylist tells me she’d normally think user error except all the different shades isn’t something she normally sees and thinks it must have been a bad box. And considering this is far from my first bathroom bleach job, I’d have to agree. At least my hair didn’t burn off, I guess? Buyer beware, though—you might not be so “lucky.”

Spots on my head- saturated my virgin color hair-

I did my test strand the night before today. It turned out great. I did my hair today and it was spotted all over my hair- I saturated it during color on my virgin hair coloring. I got blond spots- i put it on my entire head and ended up with spots. Help please

this stuff works backward

usually when I bleach my hair it comes out a brassy blonde , then I use the purple conditioner to get rid of the brassy , then its a pure platinum white, well not this time , when I bleached it , it was really white, so I then I used the purple conditioner and and now it turned a golden color,,,, real golden , like I bright yellow , this has never happened before, lucky I had some real good purple shampoo and conditioner ( BOLD UNIQ ) , I got it back to an off white,

Packaging is deceiving

My daughter has dark brown hair, and I have light brown hair. We both used this product, and our results were the same - orange. Neither of us got anywhere near some kind of blonde, let alone platinum blonde. I understand results will vary, but ours were way off. Very disappointing.

I use a lot of garnier products and thought this would be less damaging to my hair so I tried it out to end up with a burnt scalp yellowish roots so disappointing had to run to Sally's to get some toner never again.

I'm delighted with HB1

I've been using LB1 for several years. My natural color is light/medium brown, but it has a lot of red pigment and in the past has been difficult to lighten. I was amazed at how well LB1 lightened it. I don't know if lightened blonde is supposed to fade, but mine does and I end up with really light blonde hair which I like. When I touch up the roots...yes, they are less light than the rest of the hair, but it still looks good. The one problem I'm having now though is that I have some gray hairs especially in the front. The coolness in the HB1 colors those gray hairs a dark violet gray. Fortunately, that fades away after a few washes.

Works great on my all natural dark brown hair, but my mistake i needed 2 boxes and the back middle wasnt wet and soaked enough so left it a medium like brassy brown-copper I guess
Can I put a other box on the uneven parts ?
I also sectioned it that my top layer is still my natural color, i want to achieve a white as paper color with a little icy ❄️

Beautiful blonde hair!

Textured hair requires more time and work with any hair lightening product. My hair is comprised of finer strands in the front (around my face) and thicker, wavier strands going towards the back. Thus, I use this product on the finer hair, and it comes out as a beautiful and platinum blonde frame around my face! Also, it's important to pay attention to directions: The instructions says to leave on up to 60 minutes for harder to lift hair.

My pepper and salt hair turned yellow/orange and if you have long hair get two or three for full coverage.
Will hide from the world for a couple days and re-color.

I have used this hair color for many years and get compliments often on the color. It is the only hair dye I have found in the store that will color properly my brown roots to a beautiful blonde. I love the LB1 color.

All the negative reviews are true. Don’t buy this product unless you want orange brassy hair. The color on the box doesn’t match the dye whatsoever, I toned my hair 3 times after I dyed it and it did absolutely nothing. I highly do not recommend this product.

New Formula Sucks

I've been using this product for a couple of years and was obsessed with it. I'd always get complements on my hair. Not anymore! They recently changed the formula and claimed it's "still the same product with a new box". It's not. It ruined my hair. The coverage is a lot thinner making banding happen easier. No matter how much I tone my hair, my roots are still yellow and I've left it on for as long as I always have. I'm switching brands unless they change the formula back.

Not enough in one bottle to start with. I put it on my natural non dyed hair, after I had grown it out for over a year, and now it’s blotchy, yellow, and ugly. My hair is about a foot long and only the first inch of roots really picked up the dye, just a little bit though. I’ve been dyeing my hair for over 12 years and this has never happened to me. Not happy with this trash product.

Amazing quality for a fraction of the price

This bleach is phenomenal for dark hair. As someone who has been bleaching my hair at home with powder bleach and 40 vol developer, for over a decade; I'm obsessed with the lifting power of this 'boxed dye"!The conditioner is purple or indigo which removes the yellow. My hair is short but I would definitely recommend 2+ boxes for anything longer than a couple inches.

Many chunks didn’t hold the bleach

Never had a problem bleaching my hair before. Decided to try a new brand, followed instructions perfectly and out of my 6 foils only 1 came out good, the rest have many strands that didn’t even bleach at all. Half my hair is still brown and the other is blonde. Looks like I have brown highlights.

Would not recommend

I was looking to even out my grays. Front is almost white and wanted to lighten the back. I followed the directions but did not read any reviews until my hair turned yellow. How can I fix this? Advise please. I am on SS and can't afford to go to a professional salon.

This lightener is active for up to 60 minutes so be sure to leave it on long enough to reach your goal blonde. On hair that's darker than a natural, undyed true medium brown you won't reach the pale blonde stage, but if the hair is still in good condition you can use a second kit after a few days to continue the lightening process on the hair that is still too yellow.

Great for dk brown roots if you follow directions!

I have read several negative reviews of this shade and can only surmise that they have not followed directions or have black hair. I have dark brown roots. I used PL2 after 4 weeks worth of roots...left it on for 25 minutes, rinsed and roots were almost a white blonde which is what i wanted. No brassiness or orange and the purple conditioner added a nice, natural finishing touch. I like using a one step blonde that lightens and tones in one step. I highly recommend PL2!

Product changed and no longer provides same result

How disappointing, sad, and annoying. I bought the previous version of PL1 and LOVED the platinum shade for nearly two years now. Garnier changed the product, said it's the same, I'm here to tell you it's not!! This is warmer than the previous product. It leaves your hair super brassy and warmer than the previous formulation. I am so deeply sad this changed and now have to find a replacement.

Not Bad but not satisfactory

The dye effect is not up to 8 levels which is really disappointing, I was going for white as I had seen early level displayed on the packet, I left the dye for about 40mins hoping that it would change to my intended color but it stopped at platinum blonde (I wasn’t going for that). It honestly felt like I wasted my money. But if you going for just an easy tint or color change then you can go for it

Zero Lift and caused my hair to look gray

Applied as directed for some brassy areas and root touch up. There was absolutely no lift in either and the lighter layers of my hair are grayish blue.

Not for textured hair

Unfortunately this wasn’t for my textured hair. I did use it on my mom’s hair and she likes it. It was easy to apply and use. The scent was a bit strong but not overbearing.

Hair is yellow, not white

My hair is naturally white grey in the front and blonde/brown/copper across the back and sides. I had my hair cut rather short a couple of days ago. I noticed the back was a bit darker with grey running through so I purchased a highlighting kit, L'Oreal Balyages. I used it on the back only, the deep purple mask, I used all over after washing the dye out. The mask turned my whole heard ORANGE! I tried using clarifying shampoo etc. Nothing worked so 48 hours later I purchased Garnier Ultra light platinum because it said it lifts up to 8 levels of pigment out of the hair. I left it on for the full 60 minutes, maximum recommended time, it is yellow. I really wanted my white grey back. :( I tried adding images before and after but was not successful at that either.

Such a pretty color!

This dye changed my wig for the better! The color is so vibrant and not brassy. I’m honestly shocked at how well it worked for it to be box color. I toned it a bit but I’m not mad at all.

I like the color

I usually prefer the dark and lovely coloring but the bleaching color that came from nutrise was effective. I did have to deep condition my hair after using this for a bit and I was worried about how this would dry out my hair. I still prefer dark and lovely's though but I appreciate that hair bleaching/dying products are becoming a little more conscious about certain ingredients in their formula. But there is more work to be done pertaining to the chemicals in products.

- A: Hi SxiGrama, HOW TO USE Applying Nutrisse: Nourished Hair means Better Color Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color nourishes while it colors with a rich, non drip creme formula, and with an ampoule of grape seed oil, it smells great while you apply. Follow this step-by-step process when applying color at home: PREP & MIX: 1) Always do a skin test 48 hours before. 2) Apply to dry, unwashed and detangled hair. 3) Apply gloves, squeeze colorant (tube b) into developer bottle (a). 4) Remove flat cap from Creme Developer Bottle. 5) Shade Bleaching Powder to loosen content and pour into Developer Bottle. 6) Screw flat cap onto Developer bottle. Point bottle away from face and shake well. 7) Remove cap of Lightening Creme and squeeze content into Developer Bottle. Screw flat cap onto Developer Bottle and shake well. 8) Immediately remove flat cap once the bleach mixture is creamy. Discard flat cap and replace with pointed applicator cap. Twist off the tip of the pointed applicator cap. CAUTION: Always shake Developer bottle with the flat cap on for optimal mixing results. Never leave flat cap on after mixing is complete. The container may burst. Never leave tip of the applicator cap unopened after mixing. The container may burst. ALL OVER APPLICATION WHEN YOU NEVER BLEACHED YOUR HAIR: LIGHTEN LENGTHS FIRST 1) Beginning 1 inch below root area, spread mixture evenly through mid-lengths and ends. 2) Leave mixture on for 20-30 minutes. 3) Save some lightening mixture for root area. LIGHTEN ROOTS 4) Apply remaining mixture to root area and saturate completely. 5) Leave on for an additional 20 minutes. Total timing should not exceed 60 minutes PRO TIP 1: work in sections so you don't miss a spot. PRO TIP 2: after applying and timing, wipe away a small amount o mixture to check your roots. If you want to go lighter, reapply and leave for 5 more minutes. Repeat as needed. TOUCH-UP APPLICATION FOR PREVIOUSLY BLEACHED HAIR: 1) Apply to new growth only.
