My go to color

I have naturally blonde hair and I love this color. Those who have tried to dye over other colored hair etc are probably not getting a good color because of that. I did try to dye my new growth black because my hair fades the black out very easily and leaves the red part...so I couldn't color over that with this.. you aren't meant to.. it will not lighten already dyed black hair.. it's for natural color. I have tried other brands and the red is too bright..I love the burgundy hue of this color and get so many compliments about my hair color. Those who have issues, you should call Garnier and ask them how to color your hair. The only complaint I have is that it's difficult to find. Its not as common a color as the red hues or the regular blacks.. LOVE this color..not sure what I will do if you stop making it.

It's RED, not black!

As I'm sitting here writing this I'm coloring my hair a 2nd time (with a different manufacturer's hair color product), to fix the big mistake I made using Nutrisse Reflective Auburn Black. THERE IS NO BLACK OR BROWN PIGMENT IN THIS COLOR! It is bright, candy-apple red. I have some gray at my roots, which turned bright red, the rest of my black hair stayed black with some red highlights. Awful, just awful. The color bleed is also ridiculous. Even after washing and conditioning 3 times there was still bright orange water running down my face from my hair. Quite obviously, I'm very unhappy about this huge waste of time, which could have been avoided had this color been packaged as a RED, because there is nothing black or brown about it.

Love the color but odd gloves!

I love the color so much! My hair is naturally dark brown but the black looks amazing in my hair! The only thing I would complain about are the gloves. Don't like that the material of the gloves changed they rip easy and are so tiny! My fiance dyed my hair today and had to squeeze his hands in the gloves lol! If you have your child dye your hair the gloves are perfect otherwise no lol! And would say to switch back to the original gloves!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Hey Garnier85, We are sorry to hear that your results with our BL21 - Reflective Blue Black turned out dark without any blue. We will be sharing your feedback with the rest of our team for consideration. We also recommend shampooing your hair with a shampoo that is not formulated for color treated hair so that the dark pigment can gradually fade. Once again we are sorry for the inconvenience and hope that this was helpful!

Re: Rich color!

This is first nonhenna product I have used in years. I did a multistep process to optimize the color. My hair is naturally light/medium brown with red undertones. I wanted to avoid ash colors because of my complexion but needed to tone down the red/copper as I brought down my hair shade from a 6 with a red tone to a 2 with a cool tone. I used the olia medium brown on my sun bleached hair that I had been washing with purple shampoo. Because I didn't use the light brown olia instead, I had a lot of red tones coming out. I washed with purifying shampoo immediately after rinsing but still too much but a very pretty light to medium red brown that was lighter at roots. The day after I drenched my hair with green olive pile based hair oil and washed with hard water blue shampoo and then brunette shampoo with yellow pigments. This took out a lot of red and helped with the hard water with water softener situation and any orange build up. A week later after, I applied the BL 21 by mixing only half the colorant tube at most with just a dollop of activator. I mixed in a bowl and applied to all of my hair. I only left on for about 15 minutes in hopes of a big red to blue tone change. I immediately washed with hard water blue shampoo after rinsing. The tone is very cooled from the red/orange. I've noticed that the color continues to develop for several days after and the red tones disappeared completely after about 12 hours post dye. I wonder if it is because of the oil. I have never used a permanent hair dye and always go for henna and semipermanent. I am so glad my hair color isn't rubbing off on my hat or dripping off in shower. Very natural looking and the oil is a big plus. However, I have the finest hair and can't even go to salon because no one can really do anything but damage it or cut it improperly. These results may be different with hair that is not fine and is not multidemensional red tones in first place obviously.

Yes, I recommend this product.

I used 3 boxes of black blue hair dye on my hair, I have very thick hair and hair longer than my shoulders. It came out very soft and shiny. The dye stings the eyes while applying just a little bit. It was great the first 2 weeks. I did start to notice that the dye was coming off everytime I washed my hair. It does wash off quickly though. Over good experience for me for the first time dying my hair.

Hi there Lillith! We want to understand what happened just as much as you do...The Nutrisse Ultra Color shade BL21 - Reflective Blue Black is a "Blue Black," with ultra reflective blue tones. It is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and black. Since dyed hair takes color differently than natural hair. we do not recommend this shade for hair that has been previously bleached, highlighted, or that is predominantly gray. The mixture for our haircolor kits is enough to cover hair of average thickness that comes to the shoulder. For longer or thicker hair, you will more than one kit. Applied as directed, permanent color enters the partially opened hair shaft during processing. By the end of your timing the hair shaft closes back up, locking in the hair color.

This is my all-time favorite hair dye. For several different reasons.... The scent of this dye is awesome! It smells so good. my hair is super shiny and soft and doesn't feel coarse and dry like when I used other hair dyes. And the price is good as well. I would recommend this to first time hair dryers as well as anyone used to using hair dye

This is the latest color I used. The smell was great, and the fruit oil is definitely a nice touch to the product. The gloves could stand to be a bit thicker. Instructions were easy to understand. Color didnt seem to last as long as usual, but that could be because of the shampoo and conditioner I have been using.

I picked this color but I used the dark mahogany on my hair which they don't seem to have to review. The color is fabulous and the smell of this hair color is really subtle because they add a small package of a serum that helps condition your hair but that smells really good. This hair dye doesn't bleed out as fast as some of the other hair colors I have used so I really appreciate that.

Q: I dyed my hair last night and it was not enough for my hair. Is it alright if I purchase another box and go over my hair one more time?

Q: I colored my naturally black hair to cover the gray with this product and now it's time to cover my regrowth. But disappointed to read it is not recommended for previously colored hair. Please clarify, do you mean, previously colored another color?

    • A: Hi Donna! We're sorry if there's any confusion over the recommendations for using this color. For women with currently colored hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Because of this, we do not recommend shade BL 21 for hair that has been previously bleached, highlighted, or that is predominantly gray. If you have used this shade successfully in the recent past, just use it again following the touch up directions. The roots get done for the full time and the previously dyed hair is done in the last 5 minutes of your timing.

    • A: Hi, you can relax your hair 14 days after you color as long as you're not using a very blonde color in your hair. We hope this information is helpful.

Q: Is it safe to use this product in bleached hair? I have recently bleached the lower half of my hair to dye my hair blue. That was a week ago and the blue color is starting to fade. I’m planning to use this product tomorrow.
