Ugly green hue!

I have used color 20-soft black for more than 10 years and loved it. But the past few times I tried it (I'm a slow learner, apparently), it turned my hair an ugly green. Since I have very long hair and have to buy two boxes each time, it's too costly to keep trying. I'm so disappointed, since this has been my favorite for so long! I tried contacting Garnier by email to ask for suggestions but have not heard back, which is why I found myself here and now see that others have experienced the green hue as well. With no response from Garnier, I guess I will have to find a new color and brand.

best hair dye I’ve tried

I’ve got super sensitive scalp and temperamental hair- i mean ‘gets dry and tangly when you look at it wrong’ temperamental. This hair dye somehow colours my hair perfectly, doesn’t hurt my scalp, and makes my hair soft and smell nice after dyeing. If i could give more than five stars, i would.

Formula change?! Hair turning greenish

I have been using this hair dye for a decade now. I switch between soft black and darkest brown. Within the last year everytime I color my hair it appears green under certain lighting. It is no longer taking the color to my grays. Not sure if they have changed the formula, but unfortunately I can no longer continue to use this brand.

Great color coverage

This product was very easy use, the dye is a little heavy trying to get out of the bottle but overall it was easy to apply. I was able to cover all grays with easy and did not damage my hair. Look forward to using it again. I do have dark brown/ black hair so it worked very well.

You changed the formula. It wasn’t broke, yet your brilliant team decided to ruin it. 1) it’s so awfully thick that it’s miserable to dispense. 2) it smells much stronger. 3) the color I always used for many years, 600, let my hair reddish and after a week, a God awful brassy orange. 4) my scalp suffered burns that I’ve never had before. 5) now my hair is falling out. 6) I hope you get sued.

Dream hair and crazy wrong reviews

I went from red to this color. It was an easy application. I originally thought that the color wasn’t going to show up in the bottom half of my hair but it actually did. I have no idea what the reviews about it turning hair green because I didn’t get that experience. It must be that the formula looks green when you first put it on but like I said my hair didn’t come out like that. My little sister wanted to see me in this color and I must say it was a dream of mine to have blue black hair. This product made it come true. My boyfriend even likes it and he didn’t really like my red hair when we met. So for all those saying that it turns green I’m sorry but I have to say you’re wrong. This color will forever be my go to color.

OK. So, I'm a hair fanatic and I have done many many colors and have had both good and bad experiences with certain hair company's hair dyes and only ever once got it done at a salon. I decided to dye my hair and I was ehh about going into the process because I've never liked doing my hair because the fumes are so strong that it gives me a headache and watery eyes. BUT!!! This dye saVED ME. It both killed me and then resurrected me. #SHOOK (I apologize im 17 aha) ANYWAYS!! It smelled hecka good when i was dying my hair and It didn't give me a headache or stink up my bathroom. I, of course, got dye on my fair and shoulders, etc. I cursed the gods for that because I have to literally scrub my skin till it turns red as heck to get off hair dye but this dye came off with literally water and no soap!!! IM SO HAPPY! Also, hair gets a kinda nasty crunchy feeling but BAM the second the water hit my hair it was smooth, soft and felt so good. The small bottle on conditioner was amazing!! My hair smells amazing unlike other times when my hair smells like chemicals!!
I am in love and will forever buy this product in the future along with other products by this company!!! HIGH RECOMMEND !!! ((Plus, an eco-friendly box?? YES PLEASE!!))

I have used the black tea color hair dye for several years with excellent results, however they last two times I've used this dye, my hair has a green tint to it. It's terrible. I don't know what they company has changed, but the color has a definite green tint to it. It's not a good look. I would not recommend using this color. Time for me to find a different brand.

Definitely seeing the green

This used to be my go to color for several years. I foolishly thought the reviews of the reformulation were exaggerating. I was wrong. My roots and grey hairs were definitely left with a greenish tinge. My hair is a medium to dark brown naturally so I wasn’t even starting from bleached or anything. I would not recommend unless this formula is changed. Now I have to find a new color which is unfortunate since this product always had the best softness and shine when finished.

I thought this was a blue-black, where’s the blue? This just came out with a normal jet black shade. I had half black, half blonde to begin with, and neither side came out with any blue tones.

Do not use unless you want green or yellow roots

I have used this product for years with good results. The last year, the same color I have always used has turned put to be a greenish/yellow time after time. It's terrible. Idk why I keep giving it a try hoping it was by chance. Idk what changed but it's terrible. I will not buy this again. Tried several different stores to see if it was just a bad batch ect. It is not. Amazingly impressive. Long lasting black with blue

I have already washed my hair 4x in the same week I’ve dyed it. I even had to wash it twice the day I dyed it because I got champagne in my hair on New Year’s Eve the night I dyed it. It feels amazing, it had shine and volume after I dyed it. It has a natural tinge of blue that is just so beautiful especially in sunlight

I've been using 20 sof tblack, for almost a year now, and the previous one I used was an indication to what was about to happen. This last time, I didn't have small green areas, but it turned my hair mostly brown! Product must be taken off the shelves!

Literally green! I am actually freaking out my hair, especially my roots are green like Oscar the Grouch. I have used this before with no problem now I don’t know how I’m supposed to get rid of this or fix it. It looks absolutely disgusting and crazy. You need to take this off of the shelves immediately.

I currently have the soft black sitting in my hair, and tell me why my hair is GREEN? I thought I was going crazy until I came on here to check reviews and go figure, apparently I’m not the only one with this problem. My hair has not been bleached in 2 years and I went from a medium brown to what was supposed to be this soft black and now I have dark brown and green hair. What the heck?? I will never buy this again and hope I can fix it!

It made my hair green ! As I was mixing the bottle I noticed it had a green tint to it but didn’t think anything of it now that’s it’s mixed into my hair the green still won’t go away ! So awful and I leave out of town tomorrow! Horrible don’t use this product

I bought this product with soft black color from Walmart. It turned my hair green. Even the leftover cream and paper towel which i used to cleanup after dye became green. Very embarrassing

I was a Garnier fan for years until you changed the formula. I actually use #20, Soft Black, but didn't see it listed. With this formula being so thick, it globs up in the bottle and is very difficult to squeeze out. I have to use both hands, which lends itself to quite a mess because I never know if it will squirt out of the bottle. By using both hands, I lose control of its placement, especially in the back of my head. In addition, it takes longer to process and fades very quickly (within about 3 weeks). What a disappointment. I'm not sure who gave approval for this product. Have they even used it? I'll be looking elsewhere for my hair color.

I have used this product, (same color, sweet cola 30) for over 10 years and I’ve NEVER had a problem! However the last time I colored a few months ago I noticed the dye looked different, thick with a GREEN tint while dying. It never fully turned black like it usually does. I noticed my hair had a dull brown/green hue to it when finished. It got better after washing a few times, but not the pretty deep brown I’m used to. I thought (hoped) I just got a bad bottle, maybe it was old. So I repurchased my same sweet cola and dyed my hair tonight. When I started I noticed the SAME UGLY GREEN COLOR!!! So as it’s processing I look up reviews to see if I’m going crazy, or if others are having the same issue. And here are tons of 1 ⭐️ reviews with the same complaint!! Whatever yall have done you need to fix it!!! But it really doesn’t matter because I will NEVER buy this brand again!

New formula has ruined this product.

Garnier has ruined this product line. I've been using the original Black Tea version of this for a few years now with fantastic results. I just used this "new" upgraded version and not only does it take longer, but the previously colored areas of my hair (original Black Tea) look great and the grey new growth is green. Unless they revert this back to their original formula I will never touch one of their products again.

THIS TURNED MY HAIR GREEN. Do not buy I’ve. Ever had a box dye do this before my hair was also clean before I dyed it. It was 100% the dye. Even dry it has a HUGE green tint. This should be pulled from shelves immediately

I'm so disappointed in this product, it was easy to apply however, as I was applying moisturizer to my hair the hair color started to bleed. It bled right through my silk hair bonnet, pillowcase, and pillow. What a mess.
