Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Crème 20 Soft Black hair dye (Black Tea) produces natural color results and provides 100% gray coverage. Its non-drip color crème formula works on all textures for hair that is silkier, nourished, and twice as shiny as when it’s uncolored and unwashed.
Fortified with ColorBoost technology, this permanent hair dye shade is deeply infused inside the fiber for richer, radiant, long-lasting color. All Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Crème hair color kits come with a double dose of nourishment: a fruit oil ampoule to add to the developer-color mixture and an after-color conditioner with five responsibly-sourced oils: avocado, olive, coconut, argan, and shea.
As a soft black hair dye, it is two shades lighter than 10 Black (Licorice) and one shade lighter than 11 Blackest Black. For best results, choose Ultra Crème 20 Soft Black hair dye if your natural hair is between light brown and black. This particular shade of Garnier Nutrisse hair dye is not recommended for color-treated hair because the results are unpredictable.

Follow this step-by-step process when applying soft black hair dye at home:
Step 1: Always do a skin test 48 hours before
Step 2: Apply to dry, unwashed hair. Put on gloves and wrap shoulders in an old towel.
Step 3: Squeeze ampoule and colorant into developer bottle
Step 4: Break off the tip, hold finger over opening, and shake bottle for 30 seconds
Step 5: Apply. Note: Do not cover head with a cap or add heat during the processing time; Nutrisse’s creamy formula will not drip.
All-over color:
• Apply color at the roots using the nozzle as a tail comb
• Extend color through the ends, and massage into hair
• Leave on for 25 minutes (30 minutes for stubborn gray/coarse hair)
Root touchup:
• Apply color only to new growth first, focusing on any resistant gray areas.
• Leave on for 20 minutes. If refresh is needed on the lengths, pull color down to the ends for the last 5 minutes.
• Leave on for 20 minutes (30 minutes for stubborn gray/coarse hair)
Step 6: Massage hair thoroughly before rinsing
Step 7: Rinse hair thoroughly until water runs clear
Step 8: Apply after-color conditioner and leave on for 2-3 minutes
Step 9: Rinse thoroughly
Step 10: Recommended: Wait 24-48 hours before shampooing
