About Olia
Unlike traditional hair dye, Olia uses a 60% oil blend with no ammonia natural flower oils to achieve brilliant, radiant color results. The oil powered technology propels colorants deep into the hair, giving you vivid, long-lasting color. Olia visibly improves and restores hair as the oils help to reverse roughness and dullness for more brilliant, long-lasting color. Olia-treated hair is hydrated, silky and up to 3X shinier than unwashed, uncolored hair.

The non-drip, velvety cream texture of Olia helps provide optimal comfort during application. Because Olia is ammonia-free, there is no harsh smell and it won't irritate your scalp. The hair dye kit includes everything you need: a developer applicator, a colorant tube, after-color conditioner, a set of gloves, and the instruction sheet. Follow the instruction sheet for the step-by-step process or watch our how-to videos below:

Amazing product

Once I found Olia I never looked back. I've been using light intense auburn for a year now and I'm in love. It leaves my hair soft and shiny and doesn't damage my hair. It also doesn't reek of chemicals. And a huge bonus is the bottles are larger than most store brand colors. I used to have to buy 4 boxes of other brands and with this I buy 2 (I have long and thick hair). As long as they make this I'll use it!

disappointed despite the lovely color

I tried Olia with pretty high hopes because I am a fan of your nutrisse products. I chose light intense auburn which is a color similar to what I normally choose in nutrisse. First, the pros: I covered my entire head (untreated with color) with no problems, as I have been coloring my own hair for years. The smell of the dye was great and didn't burn my eyes in the process. It also took only one coloring kit to cover my whole head of long hair, when usually I need two! Now the cons: When it came to discovering the color after rinsing it out, I was shocked. It was far from the color on the box and it did not take in several spots, even though I thoroughly applied it everywhere. The color washed out of my hairline and there were patches of my natural color and a mix of my natural and the Olia color spread all throughout my hair. It was very disappointing and I do not want to ruin my hair so I have to just wait this one out. Another drawback is that even after 6 separate washings with harsh shampoo it was still bleeding out bright red in the shower and it hardly faded even with dawn. It made me really sad, so needless to say I will be going back to using the nutrisse system.

Hi Dach3224! Thank you for taking the opportunity to try Olia, 8.22-Medium Rose Gold. We appreciate you sharing the hair color you applied this to, and that you did not get the vibrant color results you expected. This shade is recommended for natural hair that is light brown to light blonde. A level 10 bleached hair is far too light to achieve the results. We appreciate your feedback and will be sharing it with others in our company.

So sad this is no longer available

I used this Medium Royal Amethyst for the last 5 years and constantly got compliments from strangers wherever I went. It goes on dark but fades to the perfect shade of purple after a week or so and I absolutely loved it. It seems to have been discontinued and I cannot find a replacement I like as much. I contacted Garnier about a year ago and they told me it wasn't discontinued, just not available at that time...I am still waiting.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Gorgeous color and coverage

It's easy to apply, has excellent gray coverage, and brings such shine to my hair. It immediately softened my face with just a touch of pink. Reminds me of a pink champagne. I always used champagne in the past. I love the pink touch and other products made the pink way too dark and too obvious. I'm going to purchase this and mix it with the rose gold quartz because both colors are beautiful and the quartz seems a bit darker than I like, but mixing it with the medium rose gold just for kicks. At any rate, it's my favorite product ever!

it looked pretty nice, bu i wasnt expecting it to lighten my hair, because it said no bleaching. i am curious as to what lightens the hair then? ,y hair is a natural medium brown/auburn colr and it lightened my hair about two shades. very little pink hue though.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I absolutely love this! can't believe I had such a great result spending so little ( less than $10) I had about 10 inches of natural hair without any chemicals and then the rest was bleached (very blond). the bleached part looks amazing! the color is very intense. the natural portion of my hair didnt take the "pink" color but still I love the results!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

My hair was originally dark blonde. I used your light natural blonde bleach (1 box) to lighten my hair a bit more so the color could really shine. I used the dye and applied it evenly with a hair dye brush. My hair looks gorgeous! I was not expecting the results to be this vibrant! I have used your products for over 12 years and I am super satisfied!

Good on brown & blonde strands;but not cover grays

It doesn’t cover my grays, however, it does color my dark brown hair. I still had some bleached highlights in my hair and the bleached highlights absorbs the color at a different intensity…. So essentially, the lighter colored areas of your hair are going to be brighter, pink the darker color, strands of your hair are going to be not as intense pink, more of an Auburn look.   I’ve used this product for almost 2 years now. Not certain whites not covering the grays I’m gonna try it again and leaving it on longer to see if that can be impacted over although I love the color..

Yes, I recommend this product.

Disappointing Results

I bought this with high hopes as I was ready for a change and I loved the color on the box. I will say that the application was super easy and the dye didn't have the awful smell that at home kits normally do, which is why I gave two stars instead of just one. When applying, I was super excited, as the color looked like it would be really intense and bright, as pictured on the box. My hair is a light to medium blonde, darker at the roots. After rinsing, however, the result was vastly underwhelming. The color was there, but was nowhere near what the box represented for my shade. Additionally, I'm now two weeks post dye, and for what should have been a "permanent" color, all that remains is the BAREST hint of pink. I only wash my hair 2-3 times per week, with color safe shampoo. Thoroughly disappointed at these results, and that I'm now having to recolor.

Hi JennaJ221, Results will vary depending on your starting level of color. Dark Rose Quartz is best for anyone with natural hair between medium blonde and medium brown. You can use it on blonde hair, however your results using Dark Rose Quartz will be a more intense rose color. We suggest doing a strand test to preview your color. Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

Amazing color, smell and feel

I love Garnier Olia 5.12 medium Royal amethyst. I usually mix it with either 4.0 dark brown or 5.0 medium brown or sometimes a little of both. The amethyst adds a little punch of purple undertones and gives my hair real interest and depth. The color holds very well and that may be thanks in part to the brown base I mix it with. It is a lovely color and I think would be flattering on a lot of people. The only brand is so easy to use. My hair loves its oil base.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Healthy Hair Color!

Olia hair color in Dark Rose Quartz left my hair feeling silky smooth and soft! I love that it doesn't have the harshness of ammonia, which makes it smell a lot better than most hair dyes out there. I was happy with the way the color came out, but I would consider it more of a tint than a traditional dye, which is why I took a star off (I have medium brown hair with blonde balayage). If I was hoping for the color on the box, I don't know that I would have been as happy. Dark Rose Quartz is a fun and subtle shade for someone who wants to shake up their hair color without getting too crazy! I received a free product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

A beautiful color that faded fast!

I loved the way my color came out, but it faded out to auburn quickly. The process was not easy, the dye didn't irritate my scalp like many other formulas. It just didn't stay. Maybe on a light brown hair this might work, but for medium to dark brunette it's not going to stay the original color long.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Hi there Jena2. We know how disappointing it can be to look forward to a new application of color only to find that your results don’t last as expected. Olia shade 5.12, "Medium Royal Amethyst," is a purple shade full of intense, cool burgundy reflects. 5.12 is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and dark brown. For thick hair or hair past shoulder length, be sure to use more than one kit in order to fully saturate the hair with pigment.

Hi there Xtina2! Thank you for sharing your experience with the Olia 5.12 - Medium Royal Amethyst. We're so sorry to hear you didn't see the results you were hoping for. This shade is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and black. On hair previously dyed with a dark color like darkest brown or black there will be very little change to the hair. When using color over previously dyed hair, its important to use the touch up timing to get best results from root to tip and to avoid over processing the hair.

Q: My hair is currently lightened to level 8-9. I would like to blend the blonde and the red, will this color work well on already bleached hair?

      • A: Hi Anne3618! Thank you for your interest in Olia, 7.45-Dark Fire Ruby. To achieve this color result, your hair must be naturally medium brown, light brown, dark blonde or medium blonde. Bleached hair will not achieve the desired result. You can mix two shades; however, your color results will vary, and red fades quickly when used over bleached hair!

      • A: Hello BP88 ! Thank you for your interest in using 7.45 - Dark Fire Ruby . This color is best for anyone with natural hair between medium blonde and brown. On lighter hair or sliver gray, the results will be more intense and brighter. Definitely no need to bleach!

Q: As a child I had copper bright red hair like this color but as i got older my hair is more or a light/medium brownish auburn. I want my hair back to this copper color, so do I need to lighten/bleach hair before using this dye to achieve my desired color?

      • A: Hi Eve21, Yes you can use Olia 7.45 over bleached hair, however a strand test is suggested before you commit to coloring your whole head of hair. Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

      • A: Hi poochi! Thank you for sharing that Olia Bold, 10.11-Lightest Silver Blonde, is starting to fade after one wash. Exposure to sun, pollution, salt-water, chlorine treated pools, permanent waves, blow-drying, hair straighteners, and frequent shampoos can cause artificial color to fade. It may be necessary for you to apply your haircolor every three to four weeks to maintain the desired shade. Apply the color to your hair following the instructions for a touch-up application. This is important because if the haircolor mixture is always applied to the whole head for the full processing time, the hair that has been lightened will become over-lightened, which will also cause fading.

Q: I have undyed, medium brown hair. Will using this lift my natural hair color at all, or will it just tint my existing hair color?

Q: Would this be able to go over a faded dark blue color to tone it and get it back to brown? Also if I added a red booster in it would it results in a reddish brown afterwards instead of a normal brown?

      • A: Hi there! We do not recommend mixing shades of our 7.45 - Dark Fire Ruby. Many of ourvibrant shades are not recommended to tone down blue hair as the gray may see a more vibrant result than the rest of the hair. For the best haircolor advice, please call us at us @800-4GARNIER M-F 9:00 am – 5:30 pm ET and give the reference number 22010634. We look forward to speaking with you!
