Garnier Olia shade 1.0 Black is our darkest black hair dye. On the hair shade spectrum, it’s a level 1 hair color that looks natural and provides 100% gray coverage.

Is This Shade Right For Me?
Shade 1.0 Black hair dye is best for anyone whose natural hair is light brown to black. If you prefer a lighter color that still looks natural, try Olia 2.0 Soft Black. To explore other tones or reflections of dark black hair color, try shades 2.10 Black Sapphire or 2.11 Platinum Black.

If your hair is already color-treated, there may be special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Use our Shade Selector Tool to find right the shade of permanent black hair dye for you or explore other colors!

About Olia
Unlike traditional hair dye, Olia is powered by a 60% blend of natural flower oils for brilliant, radiant color results. The oils in this formula help the colorants penetrate deep inside the hair for long-lasting, vivid color. By visibly repairing coarse and dull locks, these Olia oils also provide full hydration while you color for silky hair with up to three times more shine than unwashed, uncolored hair.

The no-drip, velvety cream texture makes Olia easy to apply and the ammonia-free formula means no harsh smells or scalp irritation.

As Garnier’s darkest black hair dye, we recommend preparing carefully before applying Olia 1.0 Black to help prevent stains. Pro tip: Use Garnier Micellar Water (Waterproof) to remove any hair dye mishaps!

I luv'd the bottle shape made application simple. Great light sent no scalp burning. Amazing color so deep dark and shiny. My hair feels so soft in better condition then B4 I colored it. I won't buy anything else from now on. I hope it never is discontinued. Better then salon colors last so long haven't noticed fading yet. The creater of this line is a pure genius and I thank you!

Misleading product

Misleading product hair dye is not natural. It does have a chemicals in it and it’s not all oils I am allergic to hair dye. I always use hair dye that are made out of plants and oils and things like that and this one put me to hospital last night, which it tells you that it’s not a natural product.

Olia hair dye leaves your hair soft smooth managea

I ordered and received the olia platinum black hair dye. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally decided to apply it. It did not smell strong like ammonia like a lot of dyes do. It left my hair so soft and manageable after rinsing it out. My hair had such a glossy shine to it after rinsing the product and drying my hair. It seemed to last quite a long time in my hair as well like it didn't fade and rinse out quickly as some other brands do. I would definitely recommend this hair dye to anyone who has not tried the olia brand line yet you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed using Garnier Olia 2.0 Soft Black. The application was easy and smooth, and I loved that it has no ammonia. The scent was mild and not overpowering. It covered my roots evenly and blended perfectly with the rest of my hair, giving a very natural and rich black color. After rinsing, there was no heavy residue left on my scalp or hair, and my hair felt clean, soft, and nourished. The color looked glossy and healthy, covered my grays completely, and didn’t dry out my hair. Even after several washes, the color stayed vibrant with no dullness.

Very Natural Results

Olia left my hair feeling soft and silky. The color was perfect and multidimensional leaving it very naturally looking. It faded naturally over time without looking streaky or damaged. Definitely will use again.

Q: I'm looking for tips on how to better cover the back of my head with dye and also how to keep my color longer?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Dianacrst, Begin in one of the back sections and apply the color to the roots first. Since roots are the re-growth part of your hair, they need the longest processing time. Please try our Color Shield safe shampoo to lock in your hair color. If you need additional information please contact us @ Garnier 800-442-7643! Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

    • A: Hello rayingainteasy ! Thank you for your interest in using 2.11 - Platinum Black . This shade is recommended for those with natural dark hair. It is also not for gray coverage, and yes, it will make the hair look much darker and your grays could take on a different tone other than dark gray. This is truly a shade for 100% natural dark hair in order to achieve the result.

    • A: Hi Tifcry! Thank you for your interest in Olia, 2.10-Black Sapphire. Your color result will depend on how your hair respond to the shade. Hair that is shoulder length or longer will require using more than one kit. We recommend doing a strand test by mixing a small amount of the product. This test will give you some indication of the result you can expect.
