Is This Shade Right For Me?

For those who currently have color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Because of this, we do not recommend shade 7.0 for hair that has been previously colored shade 5.0 Medium Brown or darker. For more help, use our Shade Selector Tool to find the shade for you!

How Long Does Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Last?
Olia shade 7.0 is an ammonia-free permanent blonde hair dye that typically lasts 4–6 weeks, depending on hair porosity and how often you wash your hair. As the color naturally grows out, Olia’s 60% oil-powered formula helps maintain softness and shine.
Can I Use Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color on Textured Hair?
Olia is formulated for excellent results on all hair types and textures, including waves, curls, and coils. The oil-rich cream developer helps nourish textured hair while evenly depositing pigments.
Does Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Fade?
Olia contains dark blonde hair color pigments developed to resist fading. However, permanent blonde hair dye shades may become slightly softer with time. You can delay any fading and keep the tone bright by washing with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, as well as avoiding exposure to heat (hot water, styling tools, etc.).
Does Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Work on Black Hair?
Since this Olia shade is a Level 7 dark blonde hair color, it will not lift black hair to the dark blonde results shown without lightening. If you want a true 7.0 color on black hair, we recommend lightening your hair beforehand.
How Can I Maintain My Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color?
To keep your dark blonde hair color looking fresh and vibrant, use color-safe, sulfate-free hair care products like Color Shield shampoo and conditioner, and always rinse with cool water to seal in the pigment. Protect your color and preserve tone by staying away from UV rays and hot tools (including the blow dryer).
Can I Use Olia 7.0 Permanent Blonde Hair Dye on Dyed or Bleached Hair?
Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde hair color can be applied to hair that has already been colored or lightened, but porous areas may absorb more pigment, thereby making the color look slightly different. It’s best to perform a strand test before a full application to see how warm or deep this Olia shade will be.
Will Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Appear Redder on Highly Porous Warm or Lightened Hair?
Will Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Appear Redder on Highly Porous Warm or Lightened Hair? Hair that is very porous, warm or pre-lightened may reveal gold or reddish undertones when using this dark blonde hair color. If you are aiming for a neutral dark blonde, this red-pull effect may be avoided by using a pre-toner or a hair filler.
Does Olia 7.0 Permanent Blonde Hair Dye Provide 100% Gray Coverage?
Even though Olia is an ammonia-free hair color range, it is formulated for 100% gray coverage. We recommend leaving the developer on for the full processing time to color stubborn grays.
How Long Should I Process Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color on Virgin Hair Compared to a Root Retouch?
To achieve even lift and saturation on virgin hair, leave on this Olia dark blonde hair color shade for the full recommended processing time. For a root touchup, apply the dye to the regrowth first, and then refresh the lengths in the final minutes (if needed).
When Doing a Root Touchup, Should I Apply Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color to the Ends or Only the Regrowth?
Root retouches only target the regrowth. Pull the color to the ends briefly if you want to refresh the tone. Over time, repeated coloring on a full head of hair can deepen the color of the ends.
Do I Need to Do a Strand Test and Allergy Test Before Applying Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color?
Garnier recommends performing both a strand test and an allergy test before each use of this permanent blonde hair dye. These tests are especially important when applying it to lightened or porous hair. A patch test will ensure the application is safe and irritation-free when using this ammonia-free formula.
How Many Boxes of Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Do I Need for Long and/or Very Thick Hair?
As a general guideline, plan on using one box for short to medium hair, and two boxes for long, thick, or dense textures. The key to even blonde color is to achieve full saturation.
Is Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Suitable for Relaxed, Permed, Keratin-Treated, or Henna-Treated Hair?
Chemically treated hair tends to process faster and absorb more deeply, whereas color results on henna-treated hair may be unpredictable. It is best to wait before dying if relaxers, perms or keratin treatments have been applied. Always perform a strand test before using this dark blonde hair color.
Will Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Dry Out My Hair? What Conditioners or Masks Should I Use After Coloring?
Ammonia-free Olia contains a 60% oil blend that leaves hair softer and shinier after coloring. For after-color care, use moisture-rich conditioners and/or weekly masks to maintain softness, depending on your hair type and texture.
How Soon After Using Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Can I Heat Style, Swim or Spend Time in the Sun?
After applying this permanent blonde hair dye, we recommend waiting 48–72 hours before heat styling or swimming to allow the color to fully cure. Wear UV protection (hat or scarf) and wash/style with color-care products for long-term vibrancy.
Does Hard Water Affect How Long Olia 7.0 Dark Blonde Hair Color Lasts?
Hard water with elevated calcium levels tends to dull blonde tones more quickly, especially on porous or previously lightened hair. To maintain clarity and shine, occasionally use a clarifying or chelating shampoo followed by conditioner.

I have used this product for years. I am 73 and my hair still looks like a natural blonde. This leaves my hair shiny and well conditioned. Please don't discontinue this color. I have had a hard time finding it.

A few minutes ago, I dyed my hair this color. Afterwards, you could clearly see the ends very damaged and falling off. My hair has been recently cut so seeing it broken after dyeing it could only mean the product was responsible for the damage. I'll sadly have to go tomorrow to get it cut up to my shoulders. In the picture, you can see the damage and brushing it and with slight touches, it falls.

Pleasantly surprised, I got box color results!
I was so nervous to try and color my light brown hair that was color treated. It had been 6 months since my last color, but I used a professional custom home service and it was never quite right. My hair pulls red easily and I have to tone a lot. I have a lot of chemical sensitivities so the semi permanent colors had more of an effect on my skin than the permanent because they washed out and I was exposed every wash. I just can't do ammonia or bleach anymore because of asthma and dry scalp. I can't afford the salons and have been cutting my hair and doing my own color since the pandemic in 2020. I watched a lot of color theory videos and many try on simulations for every company. I was prepared to suffer through an ammonia process until I saw this and saw that it had no silicones and parabens, which I have to strictly avoid in all products now. I can't find it anywhere on the box, but I am sure I read somewhere that Olia doesn't pull brass and that's why I chose it. The try on tool was also very useful in choosing the color. I did go with the lighter color as suggested. My light brown/dark blonde was very dull from medical issues. I wasn't expecting more than a shine and really expecting a reddish dark blonde as that's usual for my hair. I can't believe I got the box color results. I chose the lightest ash blonde hoping it would be enough coolness to give me a golden natural blonde with no brass. I got the darkest results color on the box and I'm so happy. I did use one purple tone rinse before I dried it the first time, but I didn't need it. It was a temporary one and actually dulled the final result a little. The second wash I held off the purple and used a good shampoo to clarify and it's so much shinier and brighter. I followed the directions exactly with very dirty hair and timing, though my hair is so short I really do an all over application quickly and then let it set for the full time. I am so happy with this result. Now I wonder if I use the same color or go to the 9 so it doesn't go blonder. I guess my roots will still need this color. My hair feels nice and my scalp is not drier than before. Since I can avoid toners it's a win and I can work on my scalp in between colors. My hair is short because of thin patches after menopause and medication. I don't have gray yet, so this gentle color gives me time to grow my hair back. I really recommend trying it if you need a gentle color and want to avoid brass. I'm allergic to nearly everything in beauty. I did do a patch test and strand test, though my strand test was darker than my beautiful final result, probably because my mixture was off.
10.0 very light blonde is the BEST hair dye, ever!
Hands down the best hair dye I’ve ever used. The color match is perfect and it blends seamlessly with the white streak at the top left of my hairline. I also love how gentle it is—no harshness, and my hair and scalp feel healthy and soft after each use.
I have tried all hair coloring brands. Olia is the one I will Stay true to. The color is very natural. I get compliments all the time. Please keep producing this hair dye

Okay so here’s the thing… I think this didn’t really work for me because my hair is already that color. Oops. The coverage seemed okay, my hair was maybe a tiny bit lighter afterwards and it wasn’t patchy at all, but it also didn’t do much. The conditioner was really nice though and smelled good- my hair didn’t seem stripped after using it and I think the conditioner made it shinier. Probably a great product if you have hair where you can tell that you did something to it afterwards.

I think this was okay. It wasn’t my favorite but I like how there was no ammonia! We used it on my sisters hair and it didn’t dry it out. In fact, I was
surprised that it looked pretty healthy still after!
I tried this on my hair and the color was actually pretty. I am not usually a fan of box hair dye but I will give this dye a 10/10. My hair felt soft after rinsing out the dye.
Q: I have about 3 inches of dark brown roots and my ends are blonde but dull looking. I haven't been able to dye my hair in months. I've never used Garnier before either. My question is will this box dye make my hair all one color? Thanks, Bonnie

Q: How light will this color get on medium brown hair also will it have any red tones in it?
A: Hi Steph70, Using Olia 10.0 Very Light Blonde on Medium Brown hair will likely result in brassy, orange, or reddish-brown tones rather than a true blonde. We suggest trying Olia B+++ - Bleach Blonde Extreme Hair Dye Lightening kit with 7 levels of lift for brilliant, long-lasting blonde results. We hope this information helps!

Q: I bought the B bleach blonde lightening kit. I haven't used it yet. The directions don't have any mention of using a toner after the bleaching process. I don't want to end up with brassy gold roots. Is toner do-able with this lightening formula?
Q: I previously dyed my hair, which turned my hair from black to very dark brown, so if I use this dye, what colour would it most likely turn out to be?
A: Hello lokey, Unfortunately hair dye cannot lighten previously colored hair. Hair dye deposits color, it doesn't lift or remove existing color. If you would like us to help please call Garnier @ 800-442-7643 M-F 9:00am 5:30pm ET., and provide case # 42363969. We look forward to your call!
A: Hi Reeese808, Thanks for reaching out! Bleaching products typically don't contain para-phenylenediamine (PPD) because they lighten hair instead of adding color. However, bleach can still irritate the scalp. Please look at the ingredient list. Thanks for your interest in Garnier!
A: Hello shaybae, thanks for reaching out! The Olia 10.0 - Very Light Blonde is the lightest Olia color without bleach. It will lighten your natural hair up to 3 shades lighter without bleaching. Shade 10.0 is best for anyone with natural hair between light blonde and dark blonde.
