About This Shade
Garnier Nutrisse hair dye shade 61, Light Extra Ash Brown (Mochaccino), is our light brown shade with cool tones—providing 100% gray coverage. This ash brown hair dye delivers a cool light brown color that helps counteract brassy red/orange undertones while providing full gray coverage.
Is This Shade Right For Me?
Choose 61 Light Extra Ash Brown if you want a cool light brown hair dye that covers grays and mutes warmth for a mocha-toned result. Light Extra Ash Brown hair dye is best for anyone with natural hair between medium blonde and dark brown. For a darker shade, try 51 Medium Ash Brown (Cool Tea). If you'd like to remain in the light brown range but would like to try other reflects and tones, there are many shades to choose from including 60 Light Natural Brown (Acorn), 63 Light Golden Brown (Brown Sugar), and 66 True Red (Pomegranate). Pick 60 Light Natural Brown for a neutral light brown color, 63 Light Golden Brown for warmer golden reflects, 51 Medium Ash Brown for a deeper cool brown, and 66 True Red for a vivid red tone.
We do not recommend shade 61 on hair dyed to 40 Dark Brown (Dark Chocolate) or darker; the color result will be limited. For tailored advice, use our Shade Selector Tool.

Gray coverage is minimal. Tried it twice. Will NOT be purchasing again. The formulation must have changed.

Turned my hair orange!
Be very careful in using this shade. The photo on the box shows hair color that is closest to my natural color. I bought this to even out my grey areas. Instead of this happening, it turned all of my hair a bright orange. Now I have to pay a professional lots of money to fix it.
I purchased 3 boxes of 61 - Light Extra Ash Brown, as they were on sale and I know Garnier is a Loreal company. I had used Nutrisse a few years ago, but the formula has definitely changed. The color fades gradually into a lighter color I cannot even describe & the gray coverage does not last. I was a Loreal Excellence Light Ash Brown customer prior and am going back to what worked.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Fantastic!

This product has been my favorite hair dye since i was younger, every time we went to the store for hair dying purposes I’d look for Garnier! The after-wash makes my hair so soft and silky! I love how potent the hair dye is without having very harsh chemicals. I appreciate how much responsibility and care the company has for this product and i will continue using it for years to come!
I have long natural medium/dark brown hair and used this to give me subtle highlights and brighten my hair. It worked better than I thought it would. My hair is warm, light, and vibrant now. Plus side, it didn’t damage my hair.
Expired or faulty turned my hair green. I color my hair frequently decided to try this specific brand and it turned my hair green. I’ve never in the whole 40 years of my life. Had this happen

This product isn’t good as it was the older.
1.It is very difficult to comb through.
2. After dying my hair is super dry.
3. Gray coverage last for a week instead of 3-4 wells
4.Hair looks damage after using the product.
5. Soft and Shine Free
6. Low quality

Q: if my hair is dyed to honey brown with hints of dark blonde making it brassy. would 61 light extra ash brown turn my hair colour to a light brown/brown?
dt1633 months ago
1 AnswerAnswer this Question
A: Hello, Thanks for reaching out! Yes, you can apply #61 light ash brown over honey brown hair. The ash (cool) tones will help neutralize the warm, brassy, or yellow/orange undertones of your current honey brown hair, resulting in a cooler shade. Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

Q: I have been dying my hair red for a while. I just want to know how 61 Light extra ash brown would work on red hair?
Spooky12265 months ago
1 AnswerAnswer this Question
A: Hi Spooky1226, Thanks for reaching out! Yes, a light ash brown hair color can neutralize unwanted red tones in color-treated hair, however if the red shade was darker it may not reduce enough of the red. To better assist you please call us @ Garnier 800-442-7643 M-F 9:00am - 5:30pm ET, and provide case @ 45875545. We look forward to your call!

Q: I want someone to tell all of us why the formula was changed. According to who I spoke with it has always been vegan, but no one that loved the old formula cared anyway. THe new formula is horrible, inconsistent, fades, and we all want to one back, Please
A: Hi Debrose, Thanks for reaching out! Yes mixing hair dyes can create unique shades of color. However, it's generally recommended to stick to the same brand. We hope you find your suitable shade! Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

Q: Why did you change the #50? I hate red! Natural brown should not have any red in it. Red is next to impossible yo get rid of. It will take forever to grow this shade out. Not soft and silky anymore either. When a color is perfect, what screw it up?
A: Hi Mysamba. Thank you for reaching out to Garnier regarding the Nutrisse, shade #50, medium natural brown. There could be many reasons why your color results are different from what you had hoped. All hair darker than a natural platinum blonde has red, orange and gold tones, though you may not see those colors until you try to lighten the hair. We'd like to help and speak to you directly to assess your individual situation. Please call us at 800-442-7643 , M-F, 9am - 5:30pm, ET. It would be helpful if you could provide the advisor answering your call with the case #41161000. So that we can help you most effectively, if possible, please have the product with you when you call. We look forward to hearing from you.
