About This Shade
Garnier Olia shade 4.60, "Dark Intense Auburn," adds rich reflects to your hair for a brilliant auburn result with 100% gray coverage.
Is This Shade Right For Me?
Shade 4.60 is best for anyone with natural hair between light brown and black. If you want to explore other reflects and tones in the dark brown range, try 4.0 Dark Brown, 4.12 Dark Iridescent Brown, and 4.62 Dark Garnet Red.
For those who currently have color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. Because of this, we do not recommend shade 4.60 for hair that has been previously colored shade 3.0 Darkest Brown or darker. For more help, use our Shade Selector Tool to find the shade for you!
About Olia Unlike traditional haircolor, Olia uses a 60% oil blend with no ammonia natural flower oils to achieve brilliant, radiant color results. The oil powered technology propels colorants deep into the hair, giving you vivid, long-lasting color. Olia visibly improves and restores hair as the oils help to reverse roughness and dullness for more brilliant, long-lasting color. Olia-treated hair is hydrated, silky and up to 3X shinier than unwashed, uncolored hair.
Instructions of Use
Close subpanel
The non-drip, velvety cream texture of Olia helps provide optimal comfort during application. Because Olia is ammonia-free, there is no harsh smell and it won't irritate your scalp. The hair dye kit includes everything you need: a developer applicator, a colorant tube, after-color conditioner, a set of gloves, and the instruction sheet. Follow the instruction sheet for the step-by-step process or watch our how-to videos below:
How is Olia different than Nutrisse and other at-home hair coloring kits?
Olia is formulated with no ammonia and 60% oils that are concentrated in the colorant itself to boost the coloring process by propelling color deep into the hair fiber. The oil-based formula prevents damage and leaves hair visibly healthier looking and 3x shinier. Nutrisse is formulated with a blend of five fruit oils resulting in a rich color while nourishing your hair.
Is Olia less effective than a hair color with ammonia?
No, even though Olia does not contain ammonia, it's just as effective as other hair colors that have ammonia. Olia is formulated with 60% oils for 3x shinier, visibly healthier looking hair.
How long will Olia's hair color last before fading?
Olia is a permanent hair color, lasting until your hair grows out or is cut. However, like all permanent colors, it will gradually fade with washing and as new hair grows.
How much product should I use?
The amount of product needed depends on hair length and thickness. It's recommended to purchase more than one kit, especially if it is your first time dying your hair.
How long should I wait between washing my hair and applying hair dye?
For optimal results, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours to dye your hair after shampooing. This will help to prevent any potential reactions on the scalp after hair color application.
Does hair dye expire?
Garnier hair color is tested to be effective for up to three years. If the product mixture isn't runny or lumpy, it is still good to use.

It literally did not dye my hair. It tinted my roots and tips orange, the majority of my hair is still brown and I used the whole bottle and waited the appropriate amount of time. Do not waist your money!
Can’t say I wasn’t a bit skeptical. Intense Red. How red can it be? I normally use Splat which also means I have to bleach before putting the color on as it’s a temporary color. Great brand unless you’re messy with the color because it does not wash off of anything. My hair grows fast and I have to dye every 3 weeks to keep up. Bleaching is so harsh so I’ve been searching for a color close to those that my normal brand offers. Intense Red was about the only one I was able to find. I typically use a color with a violet base because an orange base fades to orange and looks looks washed out while the violet turns to a lighter red or pink and if it’s really washed out it turns to peach.. I grabbed this box and as I headed for the check out I turned back around and went back to grab my usual brand. Again headed to pay, but thought one more time about the damage bleaching can cause and went back to swap them again. I was scared to say the least. Afraid that it wouldn’t be what I wanted, the color wouldn’t match the box, I’d end up looking like bozo and be forced to wear a wig the rest of the summer. To my surprise Garnier Olia DID NOT DISAPOINT!!! The color is gorgeous! My hair feels and looks amazing. I’ve gotten so many compliments on the shade of red and the greys?!! 100% GONE! It washes from your skin easily and even if you splatter some color across the room onto the wall it is possible to wash it off. I will definitely be slinging and splatting Garnier Olia in my bathroom from here on out!
This worked really well and I am so happy with the coverage I received. I have dark brown hair and I wasn't sure it would even be noticeable. Everyone has complimented me on the color! And it doesn't have a harsh chemical smell either!

Have been using this product for at least a year. I'm 70 yrs old. Don't know how grey I am because I always have dyed hair but it covers my hair completely No Greys! Hair is so shiny and soft. Olio lasts longer than other products I use. Only problem I have is can't find this shade locally I have to do mail order.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I really enjoyed using the Olia Dark Intense Auburn hair color. The application process was simple, and the formula didn’t have that harsh chemical smell you usually get with box dyes.. it actually smelled pleasant, which made the experience so much better. The color came out rich and vibrant, giving my hair a beautiful dark auburn tone that looked natural but still bold. I also appreciated that it left my hair feeling soft and shiny instead of dry or damaged. The coverage was even, and it did a great job covering grays as well.

I used this product on my niece. I went on pretty smoothly. Wasn't as bright as I would like. Of course didn't smell good while applying but that was expected.

A: Hello there Ashley loves to color...Great question! When going darker, especially to black, you should be sure its a look you love. Once the hair is dyed darker, there is no easy way to lighten the dyed hair if you decide to go lighter after all. Go to the webpage for a specific black color on our website and use the virtual TRY ON tool to see how the color looks on you to help decide if black is for you.
A: Hello, Thanks for reaching out! Olia 4.62 Garnet Red is a cool tone of red. We thank you for your interest in Garnier! We hope you enjoy using our product!

Q: i accidentally added the conditioner to the developer. i only have a tiny bit of 20 at home - can i use the 25 i pulled out of a different brand..? i cannot wait til tmrw to get another box,
A: Hi there Bbyrno! Oh boy! So sorry to hear that…adding the conditioner to the developer dilutes it so it will no longer work as it should. A color made to be used with 20 Volume Developer will not work well if mixed with a different strength developer, possibly not at all.

Q: Inquiring about olia 4.60 dark auburn concerned one review claimed dye bleeding until after a few washes . how can that be avoided ? Do you need to shampoo immediately after coloring ? Is this a good choice to cover greys?

A: Hi There, Thanks for reaching out! If you currently have color treated hair, there are special considerations for the color result you can achieve. We do not recommend shade 4.60 for hair that has been previously colored a shade darker. This shade of color might also be too intense on gray hair. Thanks for your interest in Garnier!

Q: Hi I colored my hair with olia darkest brown over a month ago and would like to color it again with a hint of red; which olia color would u recommend?
A: I am not an expert (or certified beautician) but from my own experience, a very dark brown shade is not very easy to lighten in a future application. A bright dark red shade (garnet, for example) might give you a reddish burgundy glow --but still the overall color effect will be a dark brown. The dark soft mahogany will give you a very subtle reddish hint --still the overall color effect will be dark brown. When I want a dark brown with a reddish hint, I usually mix two shades together (dark brown and dark garnet, or dark brown and dark mahogany). It depends what overall effect you want on your hair.
