The 6 step facial for dehydrated skin

Many people confuse dehydrated skin with dry skin, however the two are different. Dry skin is a specific skin type in which skin produces no or very little oil. Dehydrated skin isn’t a skin type but a skin concern, in which your skin temporarily lacks hydration due to factors such as climate, aging, skin care products, sun exposure and other factors. Dehydration can happen to any skin type and can easily be addressed with the right skin care products. If you have dehydrated skin treat yourself to a skin-care-routine-hacks-you-learn-at-spas at home. With six easy steps you can help your skin feel moisturized and hydrated.

1. Hydrate From The Inside

It never hurts to hydrate before you start your facial. Since you may be experiencing dehydration on your skin due to general dehydration in your body, pour yourself a glass of water and squeeze a little fresh lemon. The water is hydrating and you’ll get an antioxidant Vitamin C boost.

2. Cleanse

Cleanse any make up, dirt or sweat off your face with a cleanser that is gentle yet effective. It should not make your skin feel tight or irritated. In fact, if this is a sensation you’ve felt previously when you used your cleanser, you may have been using a product that is too harsh for your skin type. We recommend a gentle lotion cleanser or micellar water to lift any residue from your skin without rubbing. Garnier SkinActive’s Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Makeup Remover and Cleanser cleanses without stripping your skin’s delicate barrier function. Garnier SkinActive’s Clean + Make Up Removing Lotion Cleanser utilizes powerful yet gentle cleansing agents that can dissolve impurities. The formula is infused with plant extract and can leave skin feeling moisturized and protected.

3. Steam

Steam can help open pores and also loosen dry and dead skin cells from skin’s surface. If you don’t have a steamer at home you can pour boiling water into a large bowl then hold your face a few inches away from the steam that’s forming while covering your head with a towel. Keep the steam session to 1-2 minutes because overdoing it is harmful to you skin. You just want to do it long enough to loosen your dead skin cells so you can get a deep clean after.

4. Exfoliate

After softening your skin it’s easy to lift dead skin cells off the surface with a gentle scrub. Avoid any harsh grainy scrubs that can further irritate your skin and cause damage. Instead opt for a peel that is formulated with acids or enzymes . Gently massage into your skin to lift dead surface skin cells then wash off with lukewarm water to reveal fresh-looking skin.

5. Moisturize

Your skin is now primed for moisturizer. Use a hydrating moisturizer such as Garnier SkinActive’s Moisture Rescue Actively Hydrating Daily Lotion SPF 15 with a formula that includes glycerin to help strengthen skin. It provides long lasting moisture which can help turn your parched skin into soft, glowing skin.

6. Refresh Your Eyes

Dehydration is particularly apparent in areas where our skin is thin such as our under eye area. Enlist Garnier SkinActive’s Miracle Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel-Cream to moisturize and refresh this delicate area. This hydrating and refreshing eye gel cream is infused with essential oil, hyaluronic acid and caffeine.
