What Makes Coconut Water Great

Coconut water has a variety of healthy properties. It’s full of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, enzymes, amino acids and minerals like magnesium and potassium. Since it’s also high in natural electrolytes, coconut water is a great way to hydrate.

How to Use Coconut Water in Your Beauty Routine

1. Leave-In Conditioner

Coconut water is the perfect way to counteract a dry, itchy or flaky scalp. Massaging coconut water can also help stimulate your scalp. You can make your own coconut water scalp spray in no time: All you need is pure coconut water (without sugar, preservatives or flavoring, which can make your hair sticky) and jojoba or avocado oil. Use half a cup of coconut water mixed with four tablespoons of your oil. Spray it onto your hair before washing as a scalp treatment to massage your hair follicles or use after shampooing and conditioning to calm your scalp.

2. Face Mask for Blemished Skin

We’ve got an easy face mask that can reduce redness, blemishes and generally brightens your skin. Mix coconut water with turmeric into a paste. Then, add a small amount of coconut oil to smooth the mixture. Apply it gently to your face and let the antioxidants, minerals and fatty acids work their magic. Rinse off after 10 minutes with a gentle facial cleanser.

3. Instant Skin Brightener and Moisturizer

Taking your skin from dry and dull to bright and supple can be as easy as using coconut water as your main source of liquid against your skin. You can dab your skin with a coconut-water filled cotton ball and then rinse off. You skin will be hydrated and the Vitamin C found in coconut water is a natural skin brightener.

Coconut water is more than just a drink that can make you feel like you’re in the tropics. It’s also a great beauty ingredient as well. For more healthy hair ingredients, check out our collection of Hair Ingredients articles.
