  • 75% of our plastic packaging is indeed recyclable. For the past few years, Garnier has been committed to removing disruptors, such as metalized labels and opaque PET to improve the recyclability of its products. Bottles with pumps or small packaging are not yet recyclable because  there isn’t a large-scare recycling stream available for them.
  • Recyclable packaging can be recycled. It is collected, cleaned and sorted by material (paper, type of plastic, metal, etc.). Then, it is shredded, washed, melted and reformed into pellets, or granulate. This granulated plastic is used to make new packaging. Recycled packaging often refers to packaging made with recycled plastic from a recycling stream. 53% of Garnier’s plastic is recycled plastic.
  • Yes, Garnier is committed to reducing its plastic use with lighter-weight packaging. Since 2019, Garnier has reduced its packaging intensity by 7%.
  • Garnier reports its carbon emissions in its annual Progress Report, taking into account scopes 1, 2 and 3. This means considering not only direct emissions but also downstream emissions from our suppliers and emission during the use phase by consumers. Compared to 2019, Garnier has reduced its GHG emission by 10% in 2024 (excluding optional and indirect use phase).
  • Garnier is committed to using more plant-based ingredients: in 2024, 68% of its ingredients were biobased, derived from abundant mineral or sourced from circular processes.
  • Garnier is committed to addressing both water quality and quantity. Garnier has reduced water use by consumers during the product-use phase by -13%, thanks to more no-rinse cosmetic solutions such as Micellar Water. Garnier formulas are 84% biodegradable, and Garnier has phased out the most impactful ingredients, such as some silicones.
