Apply a full head of color like an expert
Easy steps for applying Color Sensation in shades 1.0 (Black) to 9.0 (Light Natural Blonde)
Step 1: Prepare
Squeeze contents of the Color Cream tube into Developer Bottle.
Step 2: Mix
Screw the cap of the Developer Bottle on well, break off the tip, cover, and shake vigorously for 30 seconds or until mixture is even.
Step 3: Apply to Roots
Keeping the gloves on, apply the product to your dry, unwashed hair using the Developer Bottle as an applicator. Start at your roots, using the bottle to separate the hair section by section.
Step 4: Apply Through Ends
Then, apply the color throughout the length of your hair to the ends. When finished, massage into your hair and ensure it is evenly spread.
Step 5: Wait 25-30 minutes
Allow the color to develop for 25 minutes. (If you have lots of gray hair, or if your hair is particularly resistant to color, you may leave on for up to 30 minutes).
Step 6: Rinse & Condition
When time is up, keep your gloves on and apply a little water to your hair, massage to emulsify the colorant. Then rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. Apply the full amount of conditioner, leave on for 2-3 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.

Learn to Touch Up Roots Like a Professional
Step 1: Prepare

Step 3: Apply to Roots

Step 4: Allow Color to Develop
If you are using shades 1.0 through 9.0 allow the color to develop for 15 minutes. If you are using shades 11.0 or 11.3 allow the color to develop for 20 minutes.
Step 5: Pull Through Ends
Now, use the brush to spread and distribute the hair color evenly. You can also revisit resistant areas. Then, apply the rest of the mixture on your end. If you are using shades 1.0 through 9.0, you may leave on for up to 10 minutes. If you are using shades 11.0 or 11.3, leave on for only 5 minutes.
Step 6: Rinse & Condition
When time is up, keep your gloves on and apply a little water to your hair, massage to emulsify the colorant. Then, rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. Apply the full amount of conditioner, leave on for 2-3 minutes, and rinse thoroughly.

The color payoff is good. And it lasted a good while. I’m just not so sure about a color that is supposed to be like a semi permanent non natural color having developer. It’s more damaging than it has to be. I probably wouldn’t purchase this. The smell wasn’t bad and the color is pretty but I’d prefer to use something like pinky colors or Arctic Fox.

I am surprised how much I like this. Great saturated color my hair feels soft, smells good too. Hasn't bled onto pillowcases and clothes either. I totally reccomend this product.

I have blonde hair. I didn't color my whole head, just the under parts. I can not believe how purple it came it. It's almost like a Royal Purple. It was easy to use, made my hair feel amazing after I washed it. You could feel the difference between what was colored and what was not. I did get on my floor and a little stain happened but I'm sure it will come out. I wonder how long it will stay this color.

I received this free from influenter to tryand review for free. All views are my own opinion. This was a nice produce for a box dye. It smelled good and gave good color payout. I already had my hair dyes magenta so it actually gave my hair a more blue and purple color. So far I am liking it. If you want it to be more purple, you will want to make sure you have lighter colored hair. The fading is ok. I shampoo my hair once a week so it lasts longer.

I got this in a VoxBox I was so curious to see what color I got and was so excited when I opened it cuz it just happens to be my favorite color! This purple shade is just perfect when you want a little color but don’t want to be too vibrant. My hair was already pre lightened and it made the color show more. I have dark roots so of course there was no color in my roots but I like the way it looks. I would say your hair would have to be pre lightened to get any color show. It smelled great and didn’t make my hair feel damaged.

Major plus on the smell of color sensation, and also great formula that leaves my hair soft and shiny after I dried and styled my new look... But the downside was a major one, my roots and some sections seem to not have the full grape color like the box shows... I was a bit confused about that too because it's the places I put the product first so why would the places I put last show better color than where I placed the dye first.. so maybe it's just the purple color and if I try another color down the line I will update this review, I am a bit upset over that because I was so excited to love this as I was rinsing it out and the smell was actually good and my hair felt so soft but when I finally got it dry and noticed some color was different than other spots I was disappointed... I still have hope though

I recieved this free in a voxbox for review. I applied this to the bottom half of my hair which os previously bleached to a light blonde. The dye took well in that area and was a deep purple. It was vibrant enough to appear purple in most lighting but subtle enough to be work appropriate.
Its been over a week and it has faded quite a bit and its looking a bit like a cool toned browny purple tint. This will not be replacing my go to hair color. But it was fun to try. And if your hair is not bleached it will still tint your hair a purple-ish brown. This would be nice for someone looking for a more subtle color. If you like fun colors but need something office appropriate give this a try
Some reviewers are stating that they didnt notice any bad smell but this did smell lile regular box dye. Its not as string but its still there.

I just died my daughters hair with the Garnier hair color. She had brunette hair with blonde pieces so the purple is even more vivid on those sections. It was a fairly easy process and left her hair soft and shiny. We are very happy with the results!

I love that there are more colors out there by Garnier. My only complaint with using this specific dye was that it didn't take in my hair. I don't know if I did something wrong or maybe my hair is too damaged from being dyed for so many years. I am however buying a box of it for a friend of mine who has always wanted purple hair but was intimidated by all those colors out there.

I was a little skeptical about using this color on my hair, but I ended up loving it! Since it came with a brush I was able to do a perfect ombré without creating any kind of mess. The formula was not drying and did not harm my hair in any way. Definitely recommend if you are looking to do a fun color from the comfort of your home!

Great dye! I was a little apprehensive about trying out a new dye because my hair had been badly damaged by bleach, but this was gentle enough that my bleached hair took it well, and it didn't wreck my virgin hair either. It didn't have a heavy ammonia smell, which is pretty common with boxed dye, it actually smelled pretty good and the little packet of conditioner that came with it worked really well. My only gripe was the quality of the gloves that came in the box, they were more like food service gloves as opposed to hair coloring gloves, but they got the job done so it was not really an issue. I got this product free to try from Influenster and as not compensated for this review.

Garnier Color Sensation Grape Expectation (Intense Purple) I love the color. Easy to apply. I could of used one more bottle of color. Only reason for not getting a 5⭐️. Color became dull and my hair looked so dry after 3 days.

I used this on my daughter's medium blonde hair. I only dyed the bottom layers of her very thick long curly hair.
There was PLENTY of dye for the, roughly half of her total volume, hair and probably would have been enough in one box to do all of her hair.
I didn't lighten her hair at all before dying so I could get a good impression of the dye on its own.
It came out a dark but true purple and she absolutely loves it. The only downfall was that the dye had such strong perfume smells that it gave both of us headaches.
The dye didn't badly stain exposed skin so that was a definite perk. One of my gloves broke and the dye took a little scrubbing but all came offy hand.
I would recommend it and use it again but I'd really like it if Garnier included a pastelizer for those of us looking for lighter shades with the same intensity.

I was really excited to love this product but, ended up drying my hair and fading really quick. First off, I have below shoulder length hair and I really felt like it was a stretch to get the box to go all over. I applied it and really took time to ensure the cuticles were evenly and completely saturated. I waited the time on the box and washed out - the result was not nearly as vibrant even on some lightened locks I have on my sombra hair. So the ends after 4 days look ashy and almost a subtle gray while the light brown toward the top of my hair is already showing through in most areas, even at the roots. It looks like I simply dunked my hair it in grape Kool aid. I’ve done my hair st home before using professional grade products and missing my own toners/developers etc. So, while I love the idea it just doesn’t compare. I also noticed my hair felt a little brittle after using the conditioner that came in the packet which leads me to question the quality of the product. Typically when dying the cuticles on the shaft of my hair are filled in and more healthy feeling than before dying. This time, my hair felt very dry.

The color is beyond gorgeous! And not a color that you can easily find in other box dye brands at the drug store, so that's a huge plus! Application was easy, and my hair didn't feel damaged after dying. The only thing I didn't love was the smell, but I'm super sensitive to all chemicals, so there aren't many dyes that don't bother me. Overall, I would buy again!

I have used Garnier hair color when I first started coloring my hair, but haven't used it in a while. I was super excited to get the purple shade! I don't mind rocking some funky colors. The color came out to be a deep purple though, so if you're looking for a more vibrant color I would try adding some conditioner or look for a different shade. The scent wasn't too strong and didn't smell too much of chemicals. However, my hair was a little on the dry side after using this, so I would be careful if your hair isn't in the best condition. Overall, pretty happy with the results!

Biggest plus was that it didn’t smell awful. It comes with plenty of excellent conditioner. It did not damage or dry out my hair. It didn’t color my hair much thought. It was like what people trying to get purplish black expect. I have gotten a lot of compliments. It’s subtle. I would have preferred a brighter color. It’s not bad just not what I was hoping for. But i’m a natural dark brunette and didn’t bleach my hair before hand. I had recently dyed it denim blue. I am gonna bleach my hair in a couple months and try the blue version of this hair dye line. See how that works out.

I honestly dont have that dark of hair, this definitely colored my hair purple..but it is a deep almost black purple. I personally like my purples blue based..I have this really big feeling once it starts fading it will be burgandy. The color is pretty, but I would have never gone this dark. It didn't make my hair feel any better or anything like most colors I use. It feels drier. I personally would not purchase this again and would not use it on non-bleached hair. I usually bleach my hair and was looking forward to a product that would make my hair look purple but not blackish. The best part of it was the fact that it wasnt very messy at all and had a good scent. I did receive this product free through Influenster for testing and review purposes. OMG I LOVE this color! This turned out GREAT! It also smells amazing! It was easy to apply, which is very important to me because my husband puts it on for me. It turned out to be nice and vibrant and pretty. It left my hair feeling nice and smooth, which is great because I have used other colors before that leave my hair feeling dry, hard, and brittle. I avidly color my hair but honestly I like doing it only once a month or when my roots begin to grow. I liked that it smells really good but I’m not a big fan worrying that my hair will “bleed” when it’s wet. Easy application & the formula was pretty creamy which I enjoyed better than liquid.

This hair color is amazing! It’s so vibrant! The cream formula was very easy to work with, which is great when working with bold colors. The brush being included was a nice touch to help with blending for an ombré and ensuring full coverage. The conditioner smells fabulous and made my hair feel great! After the entire process and a few washes, my hair still feels healthy and the color is still vivid. I highly recommend this if you’re ready to go bold!

It showed up pretty well. I had magenta and it was fading, i put the grape expectations over top of it and it showed up as expected. The smell isn't overwhelming and it didn't itch or burn like other box dyes I have tried. We will see how well it fades.
