Hair Problems: Frizz and Dullness
Whether your hair gets frizzy in certain climates or you always have frizzy hair, if it’s unruly you probably want to tame it. Frizz occurs when the outer layer of your hair, the cuticle, is raised which causes your hair to look dry and puffy. When your cuticle lays flat it looks smooth and shiny. Typically frizzy hair is on the dry side and also often appears dull. We’re outlining some easy ways to fight the frizz.
How can you counteract frizz?
The number one way to avoid frizz and dullness is to avoid brushing dry hair. This lifts the cuticle which gives it its frizzy appearance. Your best bet is to comb your hair with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb after washing it. Better yet apply an anti-frizz product or leave in conditioner. This minimizes dryness and creates shine. If you get frequent blowouts of chemical process your hair you may also have made it more brittle. Counteract this by conditioning your hair thoroughly and keeping processing to a minimum. Ingredients that can help include oils such as coconut, avocado, or argan oil. Shea butter is also great against frizz.
