You’ll Flip for This Beachy Wave Trick

You’ll Flip for This Beachy Wave Trick

Want gorgeous, full-bodied looking waves every time you do your hair? Then take advantage of gravity! By styling your waves upside down, you help create tons of volume and lift, and prevent your curls from falling flat. Borrow this wavy hair technique and get waves worth flipping over!

Upside Down Styling Routine

Step 1. Start with clean, conditioned hair. Flip your hair upside down and scrunch your strands with towel or a T-shirt to remove most of the water. It’s important to use a gentle fabric like a microfiber towel or T-shirt on your waves (instead of a traditional towel) or you can end up with frizz or damage.

Step 2. Apply gel (we love Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpt Cream Gel!) to your still-flipped-over hair. Run your palms over the top and bottom layers, then scrunch everything with your fingers.

Step 3. Now flip your hair back over. Apply a few squirts of wave enhancing spray like Garnier Fructis Curl Spray Gel all over, and then gently go back with a T-shirt or microfiber towel to blot down any remaining dampness.

Step 4. Kill some time—do your makeup, eat breakfast and get dressed—to give your hair a chance to air dry. Finally, finish your waves with a light scrunch of mousse and diffuse for about five minutes. All set!
