Nutrisse Ultra Color R1 Dark Intense Auburn
This shade is exactly what I want. I have been using it for at least two years now, on my normally brown hair. It is very intense, and depending on the lighting sometimes it has a purple hue to it, but I love it. I also get compliments regularly from strangers that they love the color. I personally really love it, but for some people it may not be a good choice for them. When choosing hair color consider your natural hair color, and also your skin tone. The color may not look good on some people depending on skin tone, and how your actual color takes to the dye.

Embarrassed to be in public!
I have naturally dark brown/black hair and dye it every few months to keep it dark and grey free. I decided to change it up for fall and chose this color. OMG. I made the grave mistake of dying it late in the evening, too late to run to a drug store for help to correct this god awful shade of purple/dried blood color! It only took at my roots and stops at the top of my head. I look like an absolute idiot at work today. My scalp is pink, the top of my hair is purple, dried blood red and the rest on my (long) hair is still black! I'm praying that a box of black hair color will get rid of this awful mistake! I do not recommend this color to anybody!

More compliments than you can imagine!
I noticed this color in Target one day and decided to try it. I've been using it for almost two years and I've been complimented on the color more times than I can count. I'm a guy with naturally ashy brown hair that almost has a gray tint, and this color saturates and adds vibrancy to my hair so well that I love it. Not only that, it lasts for almost 2 months, including a haircut. It results in very vibrant ginger-hued auburn color that looks great in comparison to my original color. I'm not sure how well it would look on someone with other natural color, but I know it works superb for me. It also leaves my hair softer than it naturally is, miraculously. Recommend this to everyone looking for super-vibrant color!

Pretty color, but different from the box
I've had highlighted hair for about 6 months but wanted to go dark again. I grabbed this because I had heard getting a color with just a little bit of red is important when dying over highlights; apparently some colors can turn your hair green, which I obviously didn't want to deal with. I like the way it turned out but when the light hits it, it's REALLY red. It's possible that's because I had such light hair before, but be prepared for some pretty serious red if you use this one.

I've been dyeing my hair this color for the past year, and I absolutely LOVE IT. It's such a beautiful color. Although I do notice my color fades very quickly.. Other than that this is by far my favorite boxed hair dye. My hair is always left soft and silky, I couldn't be happier!

NOT BROWN ---- PURPLE RED BEWARE!
This was put on brown hair. Give it a LITTLE change & darker. Hair turned out PURPLE, burgundy red what ever ..........no brown or black 100% red/ auburn. Box VERY misleading

Acts like it is a semi permanent, not permanent!
I bought two boxes of this stuff and the first day I dyed it it was beautiful. I waited a couple of days before I washed my hair, and when I did it kept running and running and running..it just won't stop running. The color is fading out and my hair is dark brown instead of black and it just keeps getting lighter. It is acting like a semi permanent dye instead of a permanent. I've never had a problem with black hair dye staying in my hair.
I know how to take care of color treated hair and this has never happened to me before. This is the only brand that washes out on me.

My natural hair color is a very, very dark brown. I went lighter a few years ago then dyed it jet black. It's been about a year or 2 since I went back to dark. I've recently become curious about burgundy hair so I decided to pick this one up (R1), I checked out the little chart on the box that showed my hair wouldn't come out BRIGHT red, but just right, a nice burgundy-ish. I just did it a few hours ago. I applied it all, and as I was waiting the 30 minutes, I noticed it wasn't really burning at all. Perhaps it's because it didn't have that much bleach in it, ok. When I go to rinse it out, it seemed like the dye would never end. As soon as I get out the shower, I realize it barely took to my hair!
I'm not sure if it's the product itself or if it's because my hair was previously dyed black purposely. I give it 3 stars because while it left my face orange-ish from the dye, it came off easily in the shower (I didn't have to scrub it off) and I still have hope for it. I'm going to give this dye another shot and instead of getting R1, I'm going to try R2. I'll write a review on that one too!
